Personal Narrative: Oh And Avocados

Improved Essays
A bit about me…I like to think I am smart, funny and easy going. I am told I am anyway. I am not one of those people that gets upset when I am cut off in traffic or get angry over bad service. Sure these things can be aggravating but life is way too short to be angry about petty things. I like meeting new people and genuinely like hearing about their life adventures. I make friends with people of all backgrounds and I have enjoyed learning – mainly through food – about their culture or family.
Food. Who doesn’t like good food? I have discovered that there is only one thing I will not eat. Donuts. I just do not like them. Oh and avocados. Unfortunately I am allergic to avocados and a couple of other foods I wish I could eat. For the more part

Anchorage, AK was my favorite place to live. Yes it is cold. Yes there is tons of daylight in the summer and dark in the winter. But it is a slower pace of life and really beautiful. Plus the salmon and halibut are really fresh! I am going back for an event in January. The heart of winter and darkness!
I work in the oil and gas industry as a designer. I was living life in Alaska when the market took a hit and layoff’s started. I was one of the last to get let go and I was fortunate enough to land a job just a month after getting laid off. That job was in Corpus Christi. I decided to make the drive from Anchorage to Corpus pulling my belongings in a U-Haul. It was an adventure to say the least. I look forward to sharing that story with you. That is me though. I had an opportunity to see some beautiful sites and do something I will probably never do again. I guess this may be why I like road

It’s a great job and has great opportunities. I do not see myself leaving here any time soon! I like getting out of town when I can and I usually head to my home town of Houston. I would much rather see and go to other places but I do not want to go alone and would really like someone to travel with. So know that road trips and Southwest Fun Fares are on my list of things I like doing. Hopefully yours too.
You? Not in any order but you are funny, smart, like good conversation, can take a compliment, strives to be a good person toward your fellow humans, are not ultra-left or right, like romance, movies, restaurants, hanging out on the couch watching a movie and drinking wine, going to sporting events and you like dogs. I do not have a dog but I like dogs and hope to have one someday. Oh and, once we get to know each other, and if there is something I like to do, and you do not, but do it because you know I like it. That would be pretty cool too. Because I would do the same for you. Because you like

Tamales Through Time This year’s craziness and smells of carne and my family gathering in my grandparents’ kitchen brings a big, bubbly smile to my face, like always, because I know this means the official start of Christmas, and Christmas means I get to be with my family and Santa is going to bring me presents! My mom says that she heard that I’m on Santa’s nice list for the 5th year in a row! I always look forward to tamale making because I get to be around all my cousins and aunts and uncles and watch them make yummy food for our Christmas Eve feast while I make gingerbread houses! And every year when I ask if I can help this time, grandma always explains while grinning that “you can’t help with the tamales until you’re tall enough to reach the counter because someone so tiny will get knocked into the masa and then we will have tamales that taste like Alejandria!…

Elizaveta Prigozhina Self-Recommendation I'm a grateful, opportunity seeking, dashing person with high goals and the strength to believe in myself even when no one does. I'm a feminist and an anti-racist, who wants to become influential enough in order to empower women and fight against racism. I have had many ups and downs in life like most people do, which have helped me become stronger. Helping my best friend battle anorexia in 2015 was one of the hardest things I've been through, since seeing someone very meaningful to you, basically shrink and stand on the edge is an absolutely inexplicable, terrifying feeling that many of us have probably experienced.…

It was on a day, a day soon after the beginning of 7th grade. I think it was 5th hour, and I was in Geography class. Ms. Merritt had been teaching us about Mexico. I never planned on going to Mexico anyways, so I didn't find it important.…
