Personal Narrative: Oceanside High School Football

Improved Essays
I had just entered my junior year in high school and was

back to playing football, my grades were good so far and my A.D.D.

medication was helping me a lot. Zach and I had just arrived at the

union school for a junior varsity game against Oceanside high school,

up his steps and set himself for a tackle, he tackled low but I

At least that's what I had

thought. I remember later my teammates telling me he clipped my

ankle as I jumped over him, but I don't know for sure what happened.

In a blink of the eye my head and my feet had switched positions, my

facemask slammed into the ground. As I stood up I began to feel

dizzy, my mouth was starting to become dry, my attention span was

much shorter than usual. After two more plays we punted the ball, I

was lined up on the outside as a bullet, the ball was snapped and

kicked down the field. The defenders in front of me back peddled and

slammed on the breaks to try and put a block on me but I stepped to

the side quickly and avoided it, the ball carrier was getting closer, I

met him at the sideline, lowered my shoulder and sent him out of

bounds. I stood up, my whole body felt as if it was made of jello, my

control over my eyes was gone, they kept drifting all over the place

uncontrollably. Luckily I was close enough to my sideline and

someone on my team could see something wasn't. 14 hours later I

woke up, the clock almost read 2 pm. I got myself out of bed, within a

few hours my mother returned home from work to tell me we

My Calf Scramble Project My calf scramble journey started well before I actually filled out the paperwork to participate, see my two older brothers both scrambled before me! So naturally I was destined to follow in their footsteps and that I did. My two older brothers are now in college and the heifers that they purchased through the calf scramble program have helped them to establish a nice source of income while they are in college, plus I get to reap the benefits of the quality cattle that they purchased because those mommas are raising some show quality babies that I am getting the opportunity to show. Leading up to my scramble night in Houston my brothers offered advice on securing my catch, thankfully track practice had started in school…

The punch written by John Feinstein is not just a story but a true, interesting and fascinating story. I chose to write a report about this book because it was a story that change not just only the game (basketball) but also a story that change lives and also because the incident tend to happen in the sports that I also play. The incident happened on December 9 1977 a date I think that after reading this book won't be forgotten and will always be remembered by a lot of basketball players and fans around the world. It was a rivalry game between the Los Angeles Lakers against the Houston Rocket…

It was just one hit you told your coach. He let you back in the game. You didn’t bother to give him the note from your doctor but you wish you did. That “one hit” led you to lose focus at school, get bad grades, forget about the paper even though you set three reminders on your phone for it. That “one hit” led to another hit, which led to another, which led you to laying in the middle of the football field unconscious.…

Pop Up I've played baseball as long as I can remember, but somehow, as a junior in highschool, my swing was still consistently inconsistent. You'd think that the many years of swinging a bat over and over and all the hundreds of baseball movies would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. Well not completely wrong, I did learn a few pointers on how to get my timing down, and I could run decently fast, but I wasn't going to be drafted into the MLB or even scouted for a college team. Last summer, my VFW summer team wasn't anything special; we had a few solid players, but also some players, like me, were struggling to make solid contact with the baseball.…

If you choose to rebel against this rule, you are taken away to a Slocup, a place where torture is most brutal, and escaping is only a distant vision. Unfortunately for Stikle, he is not a football player. In fact, he is downright awful at football.…
