Personal Narrative: Nursing School And Work

Improved Essays
Saturday night, my homegirl called me up and informed me that we were going out. We hadn’t gone out in a while. Her life consisted of work, and keeping track of her no good man (that’s another story). My life consisted of nursing school, and work. So, there was really no time to hang out. When my homegirl called me up, initially I was like “nah” because I just wanted to stay in the house. She got to running her mouth, talking about how all I was going to do was watch movies and sleep. She claimed that I need to find a man to occupy my time. And like usual I counter with the fact that I don’t need a man, I need to stay focused on school. Just for her to jump in, and state how I’ve been single for three years and it’s time to move on, and blah.

As a future register nurse and as a woman I feel that a have a tremendous responsibility to give back to my community. I believe that one of the most forgotten populations in our community is the elderly, and as a society we have so much to learn from them and to thank them for what they did in the past. I strongly believe that if I could make some positive changes I would decide to do them to influence some senior citizens’ lives and to change their isolation for companion and thankfulness. I would advocate for the elderly with our authorities and I would request a budget to build a clinic to provide preventive health care services for them. I would designate a budget to build a nursing home for the elderly that do not have a place to…

With graduation coming up soon I am sure all of us will have communication with the BON (Board of Nursing) before we know it.…

At the moment what I really need to do is as simple as focusing on the here and now; I need to make sure that I continue to put hard work into everything I do. On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon after school, I was able to take a peek into my future. I have always been excited to become a nurse since I decided that this will be my major, and on that Wednesday I was able to experience this first hand.
