Notre Dame football camp

It was an exciting day for me. I was going to Notre Dame football camp. I was excited to walk around campus and make new friends. I was also excited to see how the other quarterbacks were at my age. I wanted to see how many kids were up there. I couldn't wait!

On the way down I met up with my roommate Lane at a gas station outside of a highway. Our dads work together, but I never had met him so we were just meeting and we were talking about football and what position we played. It was about a 2 ½ hour trip up there. when we got there we were in a huge line to get our rooms. We had to wait awhile after that. We were allowed to visit the players locker rooms. My dad was so excited to be in there. I wasn't as excited

I have played baseball ever since I was a young kid, but somehow, at seventeen I still had numerous struggles with it. You would think after my grandpa being drafted to the Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League baseball team, and my dad getting a full ride to the University of Denver their skill would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. I wasn't terrible, I could hit a 90 mile per hour fastball and I could, for the most part, field a ground ball. However, I was definitely not about to be scouted by the college scouts.…

I remember the car ride over to Barnsdall, it was about a 25 minute drive. That was the longest 25 minutes of my life, because I was so nervous for the games. These questions of what if I strike out, what if I miss the ball, where is my coach going to have me play were just running through my head. My mom just kept telling me it was going to be okay, that I was going to do fine. When we got there some of the teams were already there warming up.…

I had just entered my junior year in high school and was back to playing football, my grades were good so far and my A.D.D. medication was helping me a lot. Zach and I had just arrived at the union school for a junior varsity game against Oceanside high school, we geared up and got ready for the game. I started the game at quarterback and the game wasn't going well for us, which didn't come as a surprise because jv games are never enjoyable. I took the snap and rolled out to the left side of the field, no one was open so I tucked the ball under my arm and started to run up field, I had room to move, suddenly a linebacker running at me from my side started to shorten up his steps and set himself for a tackle, he tackled low but I…

I was never a sporty kid. For the majority of my childhood, my hobbies have included reading, playing video games, and other generic nerd activities. If you had asked me if I wanted to play a sport, I would have laughed at the prospect, so I surprised even myself when I answered yes to my mother’s inquiry about joining my school’s new flag football team. I worried about it for the weeks leading up to the first practice, but eventually I decided “Why not? It may end up being fun.”…
