Improved Essays
The world of normative ethics took hold of me during my high school career. It came out of nowhere, an interest I never would have expected myself to have, but by my senior year it was one of my favorite subjects to independently explore. My interest in normative ethics began during my freshman year of high school. When I entered high school, I lacked a particular interest in an academic or extracurricular activity. I had taken part in some speech competitions and debates during middle school and so I was interested in continuing to participate in that sort of extracurricular activity during high school. As the Ethics Bowl was a debate-oriented club, it was a perfect fit for me. The Ethics Bowl club was truly my first introduction to normative

When I think about my personal code of ethics I think of the golden rule. Treat others how you would want to be treated. I have had lots of customer service experience which transfers to helping patients. You need to have people skills, good communication skills and all. The way I would bring my code of ethics into my profession would be to respect my co-workers, the patients and anyone I would come in contact with in the professional setting.…

The purpose of this assignment is to analyse how a child’s life is socially constructed, in relating to their development into adulthood, addressing particular issues that consider essentialist and deterministic perspective of the transitions faced during adolescences. I would like to believe that I learned my personal ethics from my family more importantly my parents. Growing up my parents thought me many things that had several messages attached to them. Those messages I now use on a daily basis most importantly in my career. One of the ethics that I could remember is to be caring and loyal friend, neighbor, family, or co-worker. Having these two ethicses has guided me to the field of psychology and is still helping me.…

I was 10 years old. I looked from the edge of the mat, unaware about the endeavor I was about to take the moment my foot touched that mat. I finally decided to walk on, like they had taught me by bowing, it was the first of a near million times I was going to do this. I was a white belt, at the best taekwondo centers in the area. All the kids, stood to the side eerily silent, waiting for instructions.…

I kept the same habits from high school, where I wouldn't ask for help even if I needed it, and tried to do things entirely on my own. Since that wasn't working, and the end of the semester nearing, I did something I never did back in high school: I sought tutor help. The tutor I met with, Cecilia, not only helped me craft near perfect lab reports that were needed to narrowly pass the class, she also inspired me to be a better person. It turns out, which I later found out, that university tutors are not required to help with lab reports. Thus, it occurred to me that Cecilia helped me out of her own whim.…

A new journey in my life began on August 13th, 2014 as my school principal cut the red ribbon celebrating the opening of a brand new high school. Little did I know, it would become a journey of growth and unique experiences unlike any before it, further refining and adding to my inner sculpture of identity and talent. I was going to Liberty High School, therefore it was necessary that I adapt--quickly, yet strategically. Throughout my life, I had never imagined that my high school experience would reach and exceed my expectations in the way that it did. I had the unique opportunity most people don’t get in life: to be part of a grassroots movement in establishing a culture that would enrich future students with tradition and values for many years to come.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

I have taken AP classes and have passed the corresponding exams. Along with taking AP classes, I have doubled up on my math classes by taking both AP Calculus and a college algebra class, in order to prepare me for the rigorous courses that the academy will have. I have physically prepared myself for the academy by always being active.…

In short, my academic experience in high school has been nothing short of the ideal "American education," but I have been very lucky to have the few teachers that have taught me the most important lessons I carry with me today.
