No more cancer is fantastic news! I was thinking about you and your journey. You are such a strong inspirational woman!

I had no idea that Leslie had a stroke. I knew something serious happened, but I didn't want to just outright ask and make her feel uncomfortable and then as time went by I forgot about it. I definitely have a few questions for her. It was absolutely terrifying and my worst fear is becoming a medical burden on my loved ones.

I am taking things slow, but the ADHD kicks in and then even resting becomes a bore.

Once the to-do list is in, share and I will select duties according to my 'talents' :) I can definitely keep the social media part updated with content provided by participating businesses.

For my final revision project, I decided to revise my fist essay “The Visible Cancer”. The reason I chose to edit this essay was the special connection that I had to it. When writing this essay, I was very invested in telling the audience how I had felt and describing what had happened with my dad’s cancer as best as I could. In making these revisions I thought it would be a good way to look back on how I viewed the situation when I first wrote this right after it happened compared to how I feel about it now after several months.…

A cancer diagnosis isan increasingly common event and affects nearly everyone, whether directly or indirectly. The prognosis and treatment process is not the same for any two individuals. That being said, breast cancer patients are often throwninto a culture of identifying as a “fighter”or a “warrior”duringtheir treatment and are deemed “survivors”once in remission. While this may provide a sense of community for many people,I think there are negative consequences to thisbreast cancer culture. With reference to Barbara Ehrenreich’s “Welcome to Cancerland,”I will explore the loss of personal identity and forced optimism placed on breast cancer patients due to breast cancer culture.…

Hi Ms. Sanders, Prior to my current role as a patient safety analyst, I worked as an oncology nurse in the outpatient radiation oncology department at the cancer center of the hospital. As an oncology nurse, my primary role is to be the patient advocate with regards to treatment information and symptom management. One ethical issue that always concerns me is informed consent. I see informed consent not just the patient signing his/her name on the dotted line. It is having answers to questions that the patient may have or ought to have.…

Let me tell you guys about Ginger Deli, okay. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, but I wouldn't know anything about that because I was scheduled to work from 2PM - 10PM in the health system. I was sad, in despair even, because it seems that on ALL the nice days I'm stuck inside. It was lunch time, a self-imposed time when I'm hungry, and I decided to go down stairs. The health system does these marvelous restaurant visits, so even if you don't get a chance to frequent the town, you can still enjoy it's quaint charm, usually with limited, but decent, options and honestly, it works for me.…

I had been a Radiation therapist for seventeen years when my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. I knew all too well what the next year or so would be like. His lung cancer had spread to his mediastinal lymph nodes, designating his disease as stage three of four. He did not have a favorable prognosis. I knew we would treat him aggressively in hope of a cure, but the reality was that the numbers were against him and he would eventually succumb to his disease.…

Optimistic for Cancer Cancer affects society more than any other disease. Continually, with a wide range of types, a not-so-long list of treatment options, and no definite cure, cancer embodies evil. If society embraces this evil as it is, no improvements will occur. Nonetheless, opening the eyes of humanity to other options than what appears on the surface is a large factor in future cancer success rates. Optimism is the cause of an increase of successful cancer treatments because of several causal chain arguments.…
