Reluctantly waking up after only three hours of sleep, I prepared mentally for the arduous task that lay ahead of me. Hastily, I showered and wore my "despicable me - Minion" scrubs. After a quick breakfast, I headed out on a thirty-minute car ride to work. Knock, Knock, it's me Ponnia. No response. Ding Dung I rang the bell, and finally, Mrs. Parker opens her door. Who are you? She asked, surprised. I calmly explained I'm her caretaker and not a stranger she thought I was. I was too familiar with this scenario since it had transpired on six different occasions. I became fascinated about her condition–Alzheimer's disease and asked myself "How can I reverse or decrease the chances of this happening again?" I can only understand what's going on in Mrs. Parker's brain when I study this delicate organ. Thus, I'm choosing Neuroscience as my major at George Mason University.

My participation in these courses will expose me to the latest topics and technologies in neuroscience and increase my understanding of how these findings can lead to new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases–indeed one of my objectives for choosing this program. I want a program that will allow me to be in control of my courses and the Neuroscience program at GMU offers this
