Improved Essays
Yesterday, we rode Napa Valley Wine Train as our 6th wedding anniversary. Actually, our wedding anniversary is a month ahead, but we will have been busy around the time: we took early celebration. The check in starts 10:15, so we departed our house around eight am just in case the traffic is heavy. Recently, I have seen many car accidents on highway. I did not miss the wine train ride due to the traffic problems. We arrived the train station 9:45 am. I was so happy to see the train station since it was my first time wine train ride. Raymond has ridden twice. He guided and snowed me the station. There were a lounge, gift shops, bar, and the check-in counter. On the wall, there was huge photos of the train and real parts. We received a purple tour badge which has a picture of the train, the lunch menu, and some broshers. She suggested us to have some snack as our lunch will be after 1:00pm, so we went to the bar and got drink and snack. Raymond ordered coffee, mixed nuts, and maffin, and I had tea and maffin. The coffee and the tea were complementary. We sat down on chairs with a round table. There were many sofas, couch, and high chairs. After we ate snacks, we browsed the gift shops. I have never seen such rare wines in our local grocery and wine stores. Not only bottle of wines, but also wine related products were sold. It was so much fun to see the creative goods. For example, a wine glass carrier, a flexible wine cooler, and wine remover. Time spend fast, our wine tour started. First, we board on a bus and towered Raymond vineyard. We had an education tour about an hour. After that, we finally were on board on the wine train! The staff assigned each guests to the seat. Since we commented this is our anniversary, so we were seated only us. Other customers were peired by other guests. We were so lucky to have a privet

Driving through Long Beach a week ago Friday, I was honored to be chauffeuring an Italian that just couldn't get enough of the jacarandas -- he said they looked like fairy trees and kept asking what they were called. My parents had jacarandas in each of the backyards of the homes I grew up in here in SoCal. I love seeing the world through the eyes of a journeyer.…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

In 1967, my great grandmother settled in San Francisco from Nicaragua, a small country in Central America. The atmosphere of San Francisco at this time was one of acceptance and peace, stemming from the Summer of Love and the Haight-Ashbury culture. Coming from a poverty-stricken country, and having visited before, the Bay Area was an opportunity for a new life, better conditions, and job possibilities not available at home. Unfortunately, lack of a basic education and understanding of American culture hindered her opportunity to obtain legitimate employment. California offered her the opportunity to utilize her entrepreneurial skills and start her own bakery after a fews years of settling in the city.…

“How much longer?” I groaned out to my dad while wiping the sweat off my brow caused by the blistering heat of the mid-day sun. We were hiking up the Arizona Trail in the Grand Canyon for almost two hours. My brother and cousin were running up ahead, trying to race each other to the top of the 13-mile trail. My dad kept yelling at the two of them to slow down and wait for us. I knew the three of them wanted to go faster but kept having to wait for me.…

After we unpack the suitcases, and greet the neighbors who are curiously watching our every move, it time to start inside and see what has developed since we’ve been gone.
