Personal Narrative: Myself As A Writer

I have learned about my writing process that I like to be creative when I write. I also like my essays to be organize before I write, so I know exactly what to write about. I believe I am strongest at freestyle writing. I like to jump in and just start writing. Even if I don’t always know what to write, I can usually come up with something. I believe I am also fairly strong in writing essays that argue a position. In reading, I am good at remembering details which is helpful in discussing it later. I am not as strong when it comes to writing problem and solution essays, or essays that involve a lot of researching. Also my grammar still needs improving. For instance, I still have difficulties of knowing when to use “affect” and “effect”. My

During this semester, I have drastically changed as a writer. Either from how I write or my process of writing. Some of the best advice I got this year was from our conference over the literacy narrative. When you recommended using multiple shorter sentences rather than have my paper full of long and run on sentences. In my first essay, I wrote, “My grandpa is a hardcore conservative, born and raised in Alabama, spent most of his life there, also serving in the military, while he is now an overweight eighty-year-old man who doesn’t look a day over sixty, despite his grey hair.”.…

I am not the kind of person that can whip out a paper the night before or create a masterpiece from nothing, but I can write an essay or story without it being too much work. Due to all the reading I have done writing to me is almost as natural as talking. Also, I am quite good at knowing how to divide writing to make it less work. Some writers I have come to know write until they can't write anymore and that's when the stop, wearing themselves out in the process. When I write I pace myself knowing went to stop and when to pick it back up again.…

The thing that surprised me about the course is how fast the time has passed by. I really cannot believe everything that I accomplished over the past five weeks, not only in my school work, but also in my personal life. I also cannot believe all the detail that really goes into writing and the rules that you must apply to be a great writer. I never realized how writers utilize the rules to write so effectively. Great writers also make reading effortlessly and that is what I aspire to do with my writing one…

Who doesn’t struggle with writing? I know I always have struggled with writing, for the longest time I didn’t even really understand the differences in sentences, and it is something that’s still confuses me a little bit. To be completely honest I sometimes procrastinate longer than I should when it comes to writing, so I don’t always review the finished product the way I should. Life gets in the way occasionally, and I attempt to convince myself that I have plenty of time to finish they assignment. This particularly gave me problems in high school.…

I believe my greatest success is how much I have improved as a writer over the past few weeks. I have developed new habits by paying more attention to my grammar, spelling, and punctuation in my everyday tasks for this class and at work. This is the first class I have ever taken with discussion boards and they have proved to be my biggest challenge. Several times I worked hard and submitted my essay with confidence, only to realize that I had completed something incorrectly once I read the other posts.…

I’m not like the usual people who write, I don’t have to write. I’m not the person who has to pour his or her soul on the paper just to make it through the day. When I wrote my first screenplay for an eleven minute long short film, I was ecstatic. My over sentimental feelings were finally being released and I could stop bursting out in tears in the slightest misfortune. Since I was younger I had the habit of bottling up my feelings and often would release them at the most inappropriate moments.…

It took me almost no deliberation for me to determine that I would major in Creative Writing in college. I've known that I wanted to be a writer since 8th grade. Whenever I tell people my desired area of study, however, I invariably receive a response similar to, "What on earth are you going to do with a Liberal Arts degree? How are you going to make any money as a writer? " It's true that writing is only a lucrative field for a select few, and it's also true that writers are paid less and less in the digital age.…

My parents can attest to the fact that, even before I could properly spell, I was a writer. Reflecting on my childhood, I find that nearly all my memories have some connection to writing. Because I lived on the skirt of a minuscule town and was homeschooled, I had no interaction with any children and quite happily spent my time alone. That time was largely passed with writing.…

Even though I signed up for a creative writing class and my first experience in the class was poetry, I am curious to see where the assignments will unfold. What a pleasant surprise to realize that my greatest wish to become a prolific writer is about to be realized. Besides, I like the quote “Please do not allow the spinning mind, with its inexhaustible genius for resistance, to keep you from writing the poems suggested in each chapter.” (v) I have been telling people that I did not choose my classes; rather, my classes chose me.…
