Personal Narrative: Myself As A Writer

Many teachers impacted me positively as a writer. My seventh grade English teacher, Mrs. Gray, stands out as an exceptional teacher. I can still recall her solemn face after thirty years. She was extremely strict. I remember getting chastised often for saying “Can I?’ instead of “May I?” In the summer of 2013, I enrolled in English 122 at Aims. I was terrified at first because it had been twenty years since I had written an English paper. I was disappointed I received a B on my first reflection. I studied her comments and I realized I had forgotten some comma rules. She was an extremely hard grader who challenged me. I learned from her comments, and I vastly improved my writing. I also possess a decent vocabulary. If I can connect to the subject of my writing in some way, the words typically flow. However, if I am forced to write about a topic I have no interest in, I am more likely to have writers block. Students will have freedom of choice during writer’s workshop. One thing I relish about writing is it allows me to have a voice. Writing is therapeutic and allows me to vent my feelings in a safe way and allows me to express my thoughts. I have the choice whether I want to share my writing or not share it. If I write something and I read it over and it does not sound right, I have the ability to erase it and start over. Spoken words can never be taken back. I have written countless letters and emails, I have never sent and no one else will ever see. Allowing myself to write out how I feel helps me to deal with intense situations. When I write, I am never satisfied with my finished work. I can always improve my writing in some aspect. One of my goals for this semester is to become a more confident writer. Even though we will be no longer required to keep a writing log, I have decided I will keep up the practice of writing at least five times a week and keeping a log. Writing will become second nature to me if I write consistently, and instead of agonizing over every word I write or type the words will flow

Adequate writing was always a struggle for me because I struggled with coming up with topics to write about. Whether we know it or not in this modern society we are writers everyday of our lives. These interactions shape not only how we communicate but how we write as well. Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. I feel that writing is a good subject to be familiar and practicing in frequently, it is a necessary tool to communicate properly. Although, if I were to be truthful I’d have to say that I am not the biggest fan of it due to the fact that it bores me and I have trouble figuring out what to say. So I find it hard to enjoy writing because most of the time I am just struggling to concentrate because I don’t have much more to say about a topic. Writing helps translate exactly how I feel into words so that when others read my writing, they get a solid idea of how I feel and/or what my intentions are. Overall, writing is one of the best ways of communication when compared to just talking to someone. When you talk to someone in a casual way, your words aren’t going to be as organized as a causal paper would be. But, there 's also a downside to writing a letter to someone compared to speaking to them, because, when you speak to someone, you show emotion through facial expressions and gestures; a paper cannot show emotion very well, which is why text messages can be easily…

The classroom is a vehicle for getting students from where they are the point at which they enter the school building way to where they should be an academic year later. Preferably, we all might want to see no less than one year of advancement for one year of seat time. The classroom environment is impacted by the guidelines built up for its operation, its users, and its physical components. Teachers regularly have little control over issues, for example, temperature and defective roofs, however they significantly impact the operation of their classrooms. Viable teachers expertly oversee and compose the classroom and anticipate that their students will contribute in a positive and beneficial way.…
