I walked in the room and was immediately overwhelmed. Mostly packed with senior girls, I felt like I had been placed in the middle of a sisterhood. I was in my junior year and this being my first year of yearbook I felt intimidated. I did not know anything about yearbook and only knew a few of the people in the class. Little did I know, this would be an incredible experience that would teach me responsibility and devotion. I started out at the bottom. Instead of being an officer, I was only a regular staff member. I did everything I was instructed and met every challenge with a smile. I did not want to let the whole school down with a bad yearbook. I tried my hardest and it must have shown because senior year I was named senior editor-in-chief. …show more content…

I am in charge of managing the staff along with a few others who took yearbook along with me last year. We lead the staff and the advisor to make this yearbook great. As editor-in-chief, I have the most weight on my shoulders. For example, I am in charge of running the meetings and deciding what we are going to do at the meetings. There is about 6 months to put together a whole yearbook that everyone enjoys. It takes a lot of time outside of school to write stories, get interviews and putting together our spreads so everyone can enjoy a perfect finished product that they can cherish forever. Through all the chaos, I kept a smile and have not given up. Before yearbook, I did not go to many activities outside of school. Now, I go to sporting events, class activities and meet all kinds of people I would not have before. This shows that I have been devoted not only to me yearbook class, but also to my

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

Senior year, I became co-editor of the high school yearbook in a time of upheaval. Not only did yearbook no longer have a set class time, but the new yearbook teacher also had no experience with publications. Slowly, the after-school yearbook organization was whittled down to eight regularly contributing members. To meet the deadlines, my co-editor and I took action to reorganize the page assignments and to put in more hours at home. We also began communicating more with other members to ask for their input on pages.…

The teachers and my peers have all been an influence on my life and during the four years that I spent at the school, I have done some things for the school and the community as a way to thank them for giving me the opportunities that they have. It was they who pushed me to keep trying and striding to succeed and without them, I would not have accomplished what I have today. One of the things that I am most proud of doing is helping to bring new clubs and activities to Barnegat High School. By the end of each year, I’d swear to myself that I would quit, but I always found myself back in room 301 come September. Some days I loved it, and other days I despised it. In high school my most outstanding example of a time when I set an example as a student leader was my sophomore year in high school. My sophomore year of high school I was brought up to the varsity soccer team, the team that I was on was not extremely hard working and or dedicated. As a sophomore I was afraid to stand up and verbally tell the entire team that we need to step it up, or we are going to have a horrible season, so I decided to make my statement apparent by my actions. First, I started by always being the first one to every practice, putting pressure on my other teammates to do the same, in result everyone started to arrive to practice earlier. The second step I took was difficult since I was one of the youngest players and the…

Sometimes people like to buy or see the yearbook cause sometimes their friends move and they want to see the memories they had but they can’t sometimes cause the yearbook people only choose the most important people in school and that leaves the meaningful memories out.
