I remember wanting to try writing, although I could never fully convey the words in my mind onto paper. Every once in a blue moon when I was able to; only I could understand what I wrote. It had fascinated me, and honestly frustrated me, that people could write these whimsical and arcane books that I’d held onto like a mother to her child.
When I’d entered middle school it had been an unusual experience at first. I remember having spent all my cherished time in the library. I’d explore the worlds’ I hadn’t yet experienced and read anything I could, as fast as possible with the undying will of a greedy lion. I’d

Gullivan slumped against the cold stone wall, letting out a heavy sigh. His mind was numb from staring at the same cell door for days on end, and he was beginning to think his journey had really come to an end. Gullivan’s fingers tapped incessantly, itching to grab onto a solid book. He longed to feel the rough texture of crinkled papers, run his hands across the weathered edges of well-loved covers. He had long missed the simple comforts of his desk and home library, and perhaps even the mice that dug holes in his beloved bookshelves.…

When I was a child I always though about business. I wanted to know how things worked, how money worked. My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

The first book that was ever read to me in the English language was called “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” --the book that allowed me to become the person I am today. Can you believe that? A children’s book defines the journey of my continual life. Inspiration comes to people in many forms and ways yet this one book read to me by my first-grade teacher, Mrs. Jenks, stuck with me till this day. “I do not belong here” was the first thought that came into my head on the bright, sunny day of September 7th, 2005.…

My talent is creating, and my form of creating is writing. Writing is a thing I've been doing since I was in the seventh grade. I started writing then because of a troublesome past, both my mother and my father had left my two other siblings and I all alone, leaving us with our uncle. It was very hard for me to adjust, I was fatigued and emotionally hurt, I turned to writing. My love for writing grew into a bigger part of my life when I kept dream journals.…

Unless I have a very strict and short deadline, my writing process begins with thinking and reading about the topic or subject matter of my paper. I don’t do a structured free writing or idea mapping session, but rather just read a bit to get familiar with the subject matter and to get my brain thinking about the subject. Once I am ready to begin writing. I start with the thesis statement is on the topic, is formatted correctly, and matches the purpose of the essay.…

Who doesn’t struggle with writing? I know I always have struggled with writing, for the longest time I didn’t even really understand the differences in sentences, and it is something that’s still confuses me a little bit. To be completely honest I sometimes procrastinate longer than I should when it comes to writing, so I don’t always review the finished product the way I should. Life gets in the way occasionally, and I attempt to convince myself that I have plenty of time to finish they assignment. This particularly gave me problems in high school.…

There were no reading logs and no reflection projects. The only expectation was that the students would read the occasional assigned book, such as Romeo and Juliet or The Odyssey. However, these books were assigned intermittently enough to make the frustration I suffered from their restriction negligible. This newfound freedom led me to discover my new favorite genres of writing, which were, and still are, science fiction and dystopian novels. My initial experience with science fiction was H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine.…
