Unless I have a very strict and short deadline, my writing process begins with thinking and reading about the topic or subject matter of my paper. I don’t do a structured free writing or idea mapping session, but rather just read a bit to get familiar with the subject matter and to get my brain thinking about the subject.
Once I am ready to begin writing. I start with the thesis statement is on the topic, is formatted correctly, and matches the purpose of the essay. In other words, if I am writing a persuasive essay, I write a persuasive thesis. I then go back and write the introductory paragraph placing thesis at the end of the introductory paragraph. I then write the body of the essay, in a logical linear progression. I write a topic sentence
