Personal Narrative: My Worldview

Improved Essays
Everyone is shaped by the surrounding world. Whether that comes from one person or several, it is inevitable to deny this fact. Our worldviews are most commonly shaped from those who we are in close proximity to or share deep relationships with. When I think about my worldview and what has influenced it, there are several people who have shaped it to be the way it is today. It was special to be able to participate in deep conversations with not only Kari but also other girls my age that also struggled with figuring out what our worldviews were and what mattered to us as we grew up. Kari is an inspirational role model to me because she is very passionate with her beliefs inside the church and out. She runs marathons and uses scenarios from these races in small group conversations explaining that we need to keep pushing through the hard times to reach the good ones. Kari believes in monotheism and that there is one God who is immanent and transcendental. Kari shared how God is eternal and everywhere even during tough times, he is always there for us and we should never give up on him. She would always start our small group discussions with weekly highs and lows, which helped us connect with each other based on struggles and praises in our daily lives. Sharing this helped us all understand each others backgrounds on a deeper level based on simple daily life occurrences because we all had the same struggles. A big part of my worldview was definitely formed from our summer mission trips to

She is only a text, email, or phone call away when I need her. I know that she’ll always listen, because she always has. Through my parents’ divorce, through a day where I could have just run away from home and not looked back, and then even through the less serious, sometimes trivial matters, she was there for me. I asked her what her favorite part of being a small group leader is, and she replied, “Connecting with you guys, and just hearing your stories, you know? Being able to help you guys has also been pretty big.…

She helped me understand better what autism is and that even though the spectrum may be the same in all the individuals with autism, they will most likely have different characteristics. Personally, even though these individuals require more attention and help, they should be loved. Loved so much that they know that they may be different but are very much loved. We must be careful how we refer to these individuals and to ensure that we are taking good care of them. We should not be afraid of vaccines, because they are not the ones that cause autism.…

I realized all the hours we put in together was just for the sake of helping me out. I grabbed hold of her philosophy and applied it to my own life the following summer by looking for opportunities to tutor students. Through my experience with a Cecilia, I had been able to take what I consider goes unnoticed about me towards a more evident light. I finally found a place where I fit, tutoring, where I used my knowledge for the benefit of others. Whether it was helping a Wellstone International High School student with prime factorization by conversing in a mix of Somali and English, or explaining how a slope works to one of my fellow high school peers, I did my best to make…

When I grow up, I want to change the world! Changing the world one day would make me feel really good. Three ways I would change the world are: make sure everyone has a shelter to live in; help more lost, sick, and hurt animals, and make sure no one is hungry. I would like to help homeless people have a nice place to stay. When I’m driving downtown I see a lot of homeless people on the streets; dirty, and sad.…

I feel that I learned more about how even though she is a pastor that she still may have trouble in seeing eye to eye in things. I don’t think that it was how she conducted her services, but more on how she used her insight from those confiding in her to preach to the congregation. So that not only can the brother/Sister to others who may be going do the same thing but don’t feel as comfortable speaking about it. I know that if I decide to return to her church I must enter with all ears and eyes open, to better comprehend everything during service. I also agree that the Bible is the word of God and feel that in ordinary to follow God’s path, I not only need to read from the Bible directly but as well as attend church…
