Personal Narrative: My Work

My Work Thus Far Since I am in the Health & Human Services Institute, and this being my first year at Gulfport High, I have never had the opportunity to acquire any personal accolades as a CAB student. However, in the past I have been acknowledged for a handful of achievements I happen to take much pride in. A number of these achievements I speak of are somewhat personal, and may have only been recognized by my self conscious. Nevertheless I plan on sharing each of them with you. For three consecutive years I was a member of a boys youth group in my old community of Saginaw Michigan. From an outsiders view, it may have seemed as if we were a fraternity for high school students. The name of the group is the Gamma Kappa Kudos. Kudos for short. The groups join one another for several days and participate in different workshops based on lessons centered around leadership. One of the many assets we are taught to use in our everyday lives. We also prepare talents for the last night of the conference where we compete with other chapters in categorizes such as, drama, art, math & science, oratory, dance, music, and vocals. This gives us a chance to showcase some of the gifts we possess. Not until my junior year did I decide I wanted to perform a talent. I was stuck between acting out a monologue or reading an original oratorical piece. One of my Kudo brothers and I, came to the conclusion I would compete in oratory and he would perform a monologue. The judges voted in both of our favor in rewarding us 1st Place prizes. When I became aware of the news the next morning I was ecstatic and could hardly believe it.
