Personal Narrative: My Work Experience With Tractor Supply

Decent Essays
During my junior year in high school I didnt like the job I was working at. I knew that Tractor Supply was being built and I applied for a job. My family thought that there was no way that they would hire me. I really had no work experience because I was only working for family. A little while after that Alisha Jewell called me in for an interview. Later that week I got a phone call, and she became my new boss. I worked hard and diligently every day. And not much longer after I turned eighteen, they made me a manager. I have been working there for fifteen months now and I still work as hard as I do like it was my first day.

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

An internship is normally a work task a student completes after a series of classes to gain a degree in a particular field they think they’ll love, whether they still love it after they’ve completed that journey is based upon a multitude of criteria. Luckily, I have found that I quite enjoy fashion and working in retail throughout this internship at Dress Barn. Occasionally students find that what they thought they were getting into, is actually completely different than what they expected. Especially when reading about a profession on paper versus seeing it up closer in real life. When I started college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study or achieve with my life.…

My past work experience has been at Sobeys, where I could experience a lot of women’s leadership. I worked from October 2013 to June 2015; I began working there since it opened to until I resigned, because I had to move to Kingston. In our Sobeys, there were more female department managers than male managers; my department manager was female as well. If I gained knowledge of what woman could do by reading about “The Famous Five” before, this time, I gained knowledge by experiencing different female leaderships. I’ve experienced both poor and great leaderships.…

The Dollar store I went to was the one located in Arlington Plaza on Greenville Blvd. The experience was very interesting because I usually go to the dollar store for birthday and holiday supplies only. I first went to the back to see what they had in the freezer. The selection was a lot more than I expected, but it lacked in fresh fruits and vegetables. Although there were a lot of canned vegetables, they had a lot of sodium in them.…

All though I never thought about how someones GPA could affect how they work, until now.…

My First Job I had wanted a job for years. I always loved the idea of earning money, having my own responsibilities and experiencing something entirely new and foreign to me. Income from this new ‘career’ would be liberating for me: allowing me the opportunity to build a new wardrobe that reflected my individuality (yes, really) and to do any recreational pastime that my heart desired, without any need for parental financial contribution and the scrutiny and ‘input’ that accompanied the cash. However, I soon found that really having a job was completely different to how I had imagined. I despised it.…
