Personal Narrative: My Work Experience With An Attorney

Most college students, including myself, have a part-time job around their school schedule. Some students have a job just for extra spending money but I have always wanted jobs that might provide relevant work experience when I exit college. When I interviewed with Spencer Calahan Injury Lawyers my sophomore year, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. They told me I would be going out to potential client’s homes, work or available places to meet and signing them to a contract to representation by the firm. Meeting with these individuals grew my perspective of others. That everyone has a different: background, life history and point of view. I learned to treat others with the upmost respect regardless of the situation. I know that my experience of working for Spencer Calahan will help foster diversity if accepted into law school. My work experience has already help me foster diversity in school. For example, this past semester in one of my undergraduate classes; I was apart of a large group for a project. The group could not agree on which direction the project should go, I was able to use my work experience to see the different point of views. Then I was able to get the group to agree on a direction that everyone could agree. I attribute my success with this class group to my time working for Spencer Calahan and am very thankful for what I learned on the job. My time working for Spencer Calahan Injury Lawyers opened my mind to the different perspectives that people have. I also learned how to respect the different point of views of others. I know that I will be able use my past work experiences to not only foster diversity but have success if accepted to law
