Personal Narrative: My Work Ethic

Improved Essays
My work ethic was instilled in me when I was four or five. My mom was a single mother who worked incredibly hard and set an example for my older brother and I. She only wanted the best for us, which back then meant enrolling us into Santiam Christian,no matter the price. Growing up I learned to work hard for what I want. My mom, brother , and I cleaned the school in order to earn tuition money. To go to school I needed to work for it. I learned to appreciate school more because of this. This trait that my mother instilled at such a young age would come to stick with me and help me in so much. I would want to go do something else besides cleaning the school, like hang out with friends for instance, but because I wanted to stay at Santiam

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

I have had lots of customer service experience which transfers to helping patients. You need to have people skills, good communication skills and all. The way I would bring my code of ethics into my profession would be to respect my co-workers, the patients and anyone I would come in contact with in the professional setting.…

Core values are the things that inspire us, what we believe is important, and which is significance to us in life. My core values are commitment, fairness and respect for others, and to have trust and love for one another. My most important core value is to have honesty and love. Without love or trust there is no way to form a relationship with another person. For me, when I learned I could no longer trust or kind for someone; I had no feeling left for them.…

My response to this selection is that Hornak made right decision, even though it took her long time to realize, but it would be hard for me If I were to change my career. It would be hard for me because I know I spent a lot time to study and it costs me a lot too. But I personally believe that we all need money, but I would also want to pick the major that I would enjoy in and which would make me proud. For instance, I like to help others…

I would like to believe that I learned my personal ethics from my family more importantly my parents. Growing up my parents thought me many things that had several messages attached to them. Those messages I now use on a daily basis most importantly in my career. One of the ethics that I could remember is to be caring and loyal friend, neighbor, family, or co-worker. Having these two ethicses has guided me to the field of psychology and is still helping me.…
