The extent to which I felt the expectations of both the worked based Learning experience and of the site supervisor were accomplished was shown, when I started to create a bond with the guest of the corner table as well as the staff and volunteers. Knowing the staff and site supervisor could count on me to complete the task they asked for me to achieve let me know that the staff knew I was responsible and trustworthy and that would be willing to accept responsibilities. When site supervisor felt that I was capable of a task and I was willing to follow procedures I would be asked to train new volunteers on how to proficiently complete a certain job/task. Getting positive feedback and respect felt like a goal met as it made this program an encouraging …show more content…
My career goal is to be in the medical field, my interest is being a pediatrician, or a psychologist, this means being able to communicate professionally with a patient and being able to present and locate problems. Helping as a volunteer at a soup kitchen is filled with diverse skills that can develop into gain of experience for a variety of career options. Focusing on the medical field there are skills that I developed while volunteering at The Corner Table such as learning how to respond in the case of a conflict arising, how to solve and respond towards the problem, when attending a patient you never know who are working with which means conflicts are possible to happen. When serving guest giving them respect and professionalism shows your guest that you know what you’re doing which gives the appearance any patient would like to have an assurance of. Communication is the key to prosper in any career which is why I feel that volunteering at the soup kitchen was a big milestone as it developed my skills in communication as you have to have a clear and comprehensive way to understand what the guest needs are. While helping I found myself each day communicating with others and being more social which created a bigger bond with the people around me which developed myself esteem. While feeling rewarded with a sincere “Thank You” and leaving with a smile on their face is comforting to

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

Discuss a leadership experience you have had in any area of your life: school, work, athletics, family, church, community, etc. How and why did you become a leader in this area? How did this experience influence your goals? I was playing soccer with my friends in my neighborhood just a normal day everything looked as usual. But while I was playing soccer I was hearing a noise, not knowing if I am the only one who is hearing I felt deluded for a moment and stopped playing soccer and headed to the direction where the noise was coming from.…

Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…

I have gained, experience, knowledge, lost, and understand most things that I have been exposed to in my twenty years of life. One goal I have is pass the GKE (General Knowledge Exam). The first step would be to fully understand what the GKE is and what kind of tests I need to do to pass this exam. The second step would be to study as much as possible to ensure a passing score.…

Volunteering is part of being a National Honor Society Member, and I decided to use my love of learning to help others. From September 2016 to December 2016, I was asked to tutor a student twice weekly at Rochester Intermediate School. Our sessions would cover anything from his math and science homework to covering his English and history materials. We worked together to make his learning fun and exciting, while simultaneously improving the quality of his work and thus receiving better grades. I have always been one to “practice what I preach”, and the same effort I asked of him was the same effort that I expected of myself.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

I was the only teenager who met the criteria for this summer program, and was the only one to complete the program. This summer program involved me working in different departments around the hospital. My jobs included stocking the ER, supplying snacks for new mothers, admitting people for surgery and appointments, cleaning gurneys, visiting each patient, and providing information to visitors at the front desk. All of these jobs were accomplished four hours a day, three days a week.…

From being a daughter, girlfriend, shift leader, or a team member I have learned through experiences that communication is one's strongest asset. While I may be extroverted I have encountered different people with divergent forms of social comfortability. My experiences have allowed me to branch out in social settings as a leader or a team member, to lend a helping hand or to receiving a hand, to be confident in my ability to complete a task in a timely manner, and to give verbal instructions or listen to someone elses. After three years at Dickeys Barbecue Pit I became a shift leader. My responsibilities were to oversee the staffs work productivity and give direction and feedback.…
