Last spring my organic seed supplier had a special on pie pumpkin seeds. Naturally, I decided to grow pie pumpkins for the first year ever. The five vines I planted produced over 100 pounds of pie pumpkins. This left me with a problem: I can only eat so many pumpkin pies. I can only give my neighbors and friends so many pumpkin pies.…
Throughout my life, my friends and family call me “Chef Steve”. They call me this because I always end up cooking and revising my mom’s food. In my strong opinion, I know the extra ingredients to make the food taste more appetizing. With the right seasoning and amount that I put in the crawfish is as easy as learning how to breathe. My most wished for food of all time is garlic crawfish, not only because of the taste, but for the process of how its made.…
Variety in the Pantry My father used to be a chef so he knows how to cook for a crowd. Every time he cooks we have leftovers for what seems like weeks. My sister and I often got very tired of what we were eating and my father would be the one stuck struggling to eat all the extra food. My sister and I developed what is called food fatigue.…
I woke up to the most gracious smell in the world, Grandma’s homemade brownies. I know I said Grandma my Grandma was not my favorite person but you have got to give her compliments to her brownies. They were the best things in the world. Grandma always thought of me as the better Grandchild, so she always left me something special. So I thought that the brownies were for me, and then I remembered that it was Michael’s Birthday today.…
The course received its very first Fall frost on November 20th, and those chilling temperatures gave way, to a little needed golf time-out for the upcoming holiday festivities. Speaking of festivities, the 9-hole ladies celebrated their annual Christmas Lunch on December 3rd, and lunch wouldn't be complete without the beautiful table decor created by our lovely Suzanne Schmitz. Lori Randall captured our attention at lunch too, with a slide show collection of our current season and pictures from decades long ago. Lori has proven to be a wonderful golf historian and 9-hole photographer. Way to go, Lori.…
I would visit Applebee’s again for several reasons; it is affordable, causal, and the food is really good. As a college student, the first thing that I consider before eating out is how affordable the place is. Compared to Olive Garden, I would say that this restaurant is a lot less formal, less costly, and a lower food quality. Overall, my experience was fun and enjoying because I felt relaxed sitting, laughing, and eating with my friends. When come back next time, I may try a dessert.…
Ever since I learned how, I’ve grown somewhat addicted to it. I’m talking about the time I made my first real paper airplane. It was in TAG that I uncovered this ever so wondrous skill of mine that I would use almost daily. It was when he told us that our assignment was to make three airplanes that my interest peaked. He told us that one plane had to be fast, one slow, and one that had the ability to fly great distances.…
Things were starting to look bleak for my yearly cookie extravaganza and handmade Christmas cards, we all know that would be an even bigger tragedy than not having hopfest. But last night I cranked out five kinds of cookie dough for the freezer and finished the card designs. Hopefully I can fend of Krampus for another…
As I pulled into the park on a Friday evening, the sun glistened off of the metal handlebars lining the top of the skateboard area. Parents pulled into the parking lot with barely enough time to shift into park when their children eagerly thrust the door open and sprint towards the wooden entrance. The ground teetered as I walked in with young children not even reaching my waist rush in to claim their rightful throne on the swings. One child peeks their head from the top of the slide, exclaiming “Hello” and “Holla” to anyone who might hear him from such a massive heights. She still has Braum’s chocolate ice cream smeared on her face that could be mistaken for dirt.…

The restaurant recently unveiled the marble bar, set alongside the front of the restaurant.…
I can feel the heaviness behind my eyes. I had woken up early for school today, and I was ready to nap as I pushed my way into my house, but I couldn’t today. Today is the Cocoa Bean! The highly anticipated football game between the two local rivals of Milton Hershey and Hershey High School. As I race down the stairs to my room my bed calls out to me in a tempting manner but I have important things to get to.…
“Stop wasting your time!” my father shouted at me. “This is the most useless thing you could be doing!” “Your room is a mess again!” my mother nagged, looking at the floor.…
It was a cold and chilly night when my grandma and I were making a huge cookie together when we're home alone. We baked the yummy cookie. After we were done we decorated the cookie then it was ready to eat. I had a great time making cookies with my grandma the best four year old experience of my life.…
Crafting has many different facets and communities within the broad category. I actively participate within the crafting community by sewing, crocheting, making cards, and paper crafting. I started sewing in a home economics class when I was in sixth grade. I can do simple clothing alterations and repairs. I enjoy working on projects for my children…
I cooked my first homemade meal when I was about 9 years old, my mother taken sick, so I had no chose but to use the skills Aunt Nina taught me. I cooked, Liver and Onion, bean, rice and green beans. My parents said that they enjoyed it. I didn’t know, I just called myself helping mom. I remember my dad saying to me, little girl, one day you’re going to be a great cook.…
