Personal Narrative: My Way Of Writing And Revising A Paper

Decent Essays
The way I went about writing and revising my paper was putting all of the thoughts I had in my head onto the paper. I put on some background music and just let myself go, I wrote the first things that came to mind and then brought it to class. Many people talked about my grammar and spelling were not great but I wrote the paper as if I was talking. I was the first person to be work shopped and I wanted to go first because I knew that if I waited to get work shopped at the end I would have procrastinated and the paper would have been rushed. After my paper was work shopped I did not look at for a month. I chose to do this because I wanted to see how other people wrote their papers and maybe get ideas of what I could put in my essay.

It is a very important part of my writing process to put a paper down for at least twenty-four hours, which hopefully include a decent amount of sleep, and come back to it with a fresh mind. I think this gives me a much better understanding of what needs to be developed and what is useless information. Depending on time constraints for the paper I will try to pick it back up the next day and go through the first reread, which will be my first attempt a the first step of my revising…

When I was a child I always though about business. I wanted to know how things worked, how money worked. Like most people who share the state of conciousness, I am prone to day dream. I often float away on the soft clouds of my fantasies, drifting high above reality in the vast blue sky. As a writer, these fanciful mental journeys sometimes lead me to imagine what my perfect writing environment would look like. I am not alone in this wistful contemplation; many other authors, painters, and musicians join me in exploring this mental path, each envisioning their own versions of the ideal creative escape. Some yearn for extravagant spaces, like a sprawling historical library, or a high tech office.…

Unless I have a very strict and short deadline, my writing process begins with thinking and reading about the topic or subject matter of my paper. I don’t do a structured free writing or idea mapping session, but rather just read a bit to get familiar with the subject matter and to get my brain thinking about the subject. Once I am ready to begin writing. I start with the thesis statement is on the topic, is formatted correctly, and matches the purpose of the essay.…

I have always struggled with writing essays and they’ve never come easily to me. I used to sit in my room, in the middle of the night, just staring at a screen, for what would feel like hours. Wondering, “When am I going to finish this paper, or even, start it?” The writing process is lengthy and has many steps, such as reading, brainstorming, creating an outline and a rough draft, editing, and finally having a final draft. These steps can help anyone write a decent and fully developed paper.…

Writing has never been one of my strongest skills nor my favorite. Even though I enjoy reading another person’s writing the thought of someone else reading mine just sends chills down my spine. I wouldn’t consider myself a decent writer whatsoever. This defiantly gets in the way of how I feel about writing at times, because it makes me insecure of what others are going to think after they finish reading my essay. When I signed up for ENGL 1301 I was quick to assume the course was just going to consist of reading a lot of material and taking quizzes that covered the readings.…

I know I always have struggled with writing, for the longest time I didn’t even really understand the differences in sentences, and it is something that’s still confuses me a little bit. To be completely honest I sometimes procrastinate longer than I should when it comes to writing, so I don’t always review the finished product the way I should. Life gets in the way occasionally, and I attempt to convince myself that I have plenty of time to finish they assignment. This particularly gave me problems in high school.…
