Personal Narrative: My Volcano Activities In Nicaragua

Improved Essays
There are so many unique volcano activities in Nicaragua as they have 19 of them, but there is also a 23,000 year old sleeping volcano that I had to visit. The sleeping volcano, La Laguna de Apoyo, is located just outside of Granada, Nicaragua. The laguna is a protected area leaving its beauty untouched and spectacular place to swim as it is the clearest fresh water in Nicaragua and quite possibly Central America.

I jumped! The best and quickest way to get into the Laguna is to simply jump. There are a few resorts around the laguna and they all are right on the water and offer platforms and other water activities, I chose to stay at La Abuela.

Unlike most other bodies of water in Nicaragua the Laguna is very clean and inviting. I visited in January and being from Wisconsin I expected the water to be a little cold, but when I jumped in it felt natural and relaxing. The water was warm, salty, and clear. I was surprised by the saltiest as it is fresh water, but was a welcome experience. I spent several hours in the Laguna just relaxing and enjoying the view.

I woke up on the cushioned beach chair, gazing across the seemingly endless magical, blue aura of the ocean. As far as I could see, glistening sand stretched across the water, as the magnificent, jagged rock structures that watched over the Pacific Ocean like birds over their prey. Just two hours outside of San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, golf courses, resorts and beaches lined the entire peninsula. The luxurious resorts boasted private beaches and exclusive accommodations along the picturesque coastline of Peninsula Papagayo. Any accommodations you could possibly imagine would be provided immediately by the professionally trained wait staff.…

When vacationing in Peru I was unable to use most of my technology I had. However, it allowed me to enjoy it more without the distractions. I was able to bond more with the people there and had a great time. Every year I volunteer at a camp for 3 weeks where no technology is allowed and it did not affect my attitude and did not take away any enjoyment of being at camp. I can adapt to different settings very easily mostly because I don't have much preference to temperature or foods so most people describe me as someone who is very easy going and willing to try new things easily.…
