Personal Narrative: My Visit To Kirkwood Community College

Decent Essays
I am considering Kirkwood Community College because of the openness and availability at the school. After talking to Nick, the choice to come to Kirkwood became more clear. Going on the visit really influenced my choice because of how well my day was spent there. Right as I walked in, there was student ambassadors welcoming me and I thought that was very polite. Continuing on in this visit, everyone got to be involved and there was an option for everyone. I like this college because of the way everything is held together. There are so many nice people there and it gives me everything I need to continue my education. There are a few people I know that go to Kirkwood so I know I can be comfortable going there. I chose to attend Wor-Wic Community College because of the support system that Wor-Wic has to offer. I applied to the school and attended it while I was injured with a traumatic knee injury and the staff really proved to me that they cared. I had surgery the first week of classes,so I emailed my teacher and they were all understanding and extremely helpful in accommodating to my needs. The late computer lab hours really helped me to be able to get my school work done after my night classes ended. Everywhere that I go I advocate for Wor-Wic because it is truly more than an institution, it is like another family to me.…

Why do I want to attend Kennesaw State University? Kennesaw State University offers a wide range of quality academics, a vibrant campus life, award-winning dining, and many athletic choices including a new football team. The thing is, why does everyone seem to say the same thing about KSU? That’s what I’ve heard a lot of incoming freshman and other students say.…

The reason that I chose to attend Marywood had more to do with simple education. There were many things about the school that I found attractive, not least of which was its strong adherence to a set of values. I have always been a very driven person, especially when it comes to my goals and interests. While not every one of the core values applies to me and my goals, the ones that do align strongly with both the interests that I have, and the places that I see myself going later in life. The most important goal to me is excellence.…

As a first time student attending Spokane Falls Community College, I honestly thought that the only buildings and areas of campus involving my class schedule would be of importance. Little did I know that one room I would encounter would become my safe haven. I remember the first day stepping out onto campus and all I saw was a giant riddle waiting to be solved so many parking spaces, buildings, rooms, classes, and students. The anticipation bubbling up inside of me was exciting and rooted with a little nervousness. I was searching for place to keep me focused on my goal of being a successful student, a place to refresh between rigorous lectures.…

I started attending Lone star college right after high school, at first, I began with the typical high school graduate state of mind, which was that college was going to be a breeze and that it would all be fun and games; more worried about what was going on in my social life rather than studying the books. Especially since I had no real responsibilities to handle or much life experience. Around my first year of college, I started dating this girl and not long after we conceived our first son. Once this happened, my focus slowly shifted from school to working a full-time job at a welding shop in order to provide for my family. I still tried to attend class but was unable to find the balance between work, school and family and this reflected my grades.…

My past laid out upon a table. My GPA, my resume, my test scores. An unfamiliar man whom I met for the first time was frowning, turning around in his creaky red chair, while hurriedly trying to contextualize my life with just a few pieces of paper. For 15 minutes, he sat there, unhappy, tapping his foot, analyzing what I’ve “done” with my life. He took a sip of water and suggested that I go to community college.…

Initially, Syracuse’s outstanding first class facilities on campus and obvious support from the faculty and students influenced me to apply. At Syracuse University, I feel like a piece in a large puzzle that’s not only working on degrees, but creating better people, no matter their degree. As I explored Syracuse more extensively I found they offer many activities such as school clubs designed to strengthen a student within their career (or join just for fun) and their Study Abroad Program that allow students to not only engage in challenging academics but experience new cultures. Additionally, the school’s stellar professor reviews drew me in. The professors are known to be well education and go above and beyond for their students.…

If I could change one thing about Southeast Missouri State University, I would move all the buildings and put them in one main area that does not involve walking up hills. I did not purchase a parking pass this year since I live so close to campus. I walk one mile to and from class each day and sometimes I make the trip more than once if I have long breaks in between my classes. I am not complaining because it does not hurt me to walk and I do not think I am too good to walk to and from class, but I would like to attend class just once and not be drowning in my own sweat. That last part may be a little bit dramatic, but I would put more effort into looking nicer for class if I knew I was not going to be covered in sweat by the time I get there.…
