Personal Narrative: My Values Of A Horse

Decent Essays
My values are to respect all living things, always be driven, and to put out good energy to receive it. I didn't always have these values I was very rebellious and angry as a child till about the time I turned 11. When I turned 11 I decided to start riding horses. Soon after my dad bought my first horse and that is where I formed my values; through my equestrian culture. If you put out bad energy around a horse he will feel it and physically react to your bad vibes and possibly even injure you. When you treat the animal with respect he will respect you in return. To care for a horse you have to be driven everyday to wake up early to feed him, to exercise him, and to work hard to clean his stable.

So it finally snowed! I’m happy that it finally did and I built a snowman during the storm and it looks kind of…squared you could say. Since the snow is heavy, more of the leaves are now fallen off and it’s starting to look like winter. Today I went to my grandparents’ house to spend the few nights until thanksgiving. While driving out there, the corn fields and the bean fields were all covered with snow, you could tell that the deer were out and about since you could clearly see the footprints in the snow.…

It was among the first few days of June, and my fourteen-year old self hopped out of my mom’s car, with a quizzical look on my face. I was attending the orientation and briefing for the group known as Pony Power, a non-profit organization giving special needs and at-risk children a unique opportunity to ride, care for, and interact with horses. My mom knew the owner, and had signed me up to volunteer here over the summer to help with this organization’s horse therapy. Thoughts were swirling through my head – “I have nothing in common with these people!…

The fluorescent yellow lights of the arena flickered, letting out an electrical hum every now and then. As my horse walked below me, kicking up dust with every step, a sense of determination washed over me. I could do this. I kicked my heels into my horse’s side and shouted the command to trot. She tucked her head and switched gaits, but the next thing I knew I was facefirst in the dirt, feeling a sharp pain shoot through my jaw and tears brimming in my eyes.…

The three personal values deemed very important to hold on to in this life and to try to live by are integrity, respect, and gratitude. The highest value held dear to my heart is integrity because integrity encompasses so much more than just a word. Integrity consist of moral and ethical principles teaching us to live a blameless and righteous life no matter what the situation may be. Respect is very important because no matter where you go in this world as human beings living in the flesh we all seek to be respected or feel like we are being honored, whether physically, emotionally, spiritually, sexually, etc., it’s our hearts desire to feel a sense of worth. Even though different cultures, tribes, countries etc., have a different way of showing…

It all started when I was a little girl, I had always wanted a horse. So when I was 8 I started to take lessons but that only lasted for a few years, hard times hit and I wasn’t able to afford to ride anymore. I was too young to be able to help around a barn so for the time being I had to give up my love of riding and my time with horses. That was until I turned 16 and I was able to start volunteering with horses.…

As I said before I’m on a journey to discover who I am and what my moral values are. It may take me the rest of my life or may come to me tomorrow but as I have written them on this paper I have discovered that I need to stop sitting around and thinking about it but to get out in the world and learn them. Life is tough but we must respect on another because we may figure out that we can be even stronger if we listen to one another. In conclusion my moral values are to treat others as they want to be treated as in the golden rule, do not judge others so quickly but get to know them and make judgement later as they may be who you do not think they are right of the start, and finally always know that there are a checks and balance system around, your actions will always have a re-action, they may be good and may be bad but they are a checks and balance system, just like yin and…

When I contemplate about the furthermost influential greatest leadership example in my life, the first person I ruminated of was my dad. I imagine many children see their parents as a role model or an example of an exceptional leader; however, not all parents instill the basic foundation that I believe is practical for character building that my father has imparted in me. Growing up as a child was not the silver spoon childhood life. My parents did not make much money, and we did not live in the nicest neighborhood or drive the nicest car.…

Values are defined by Johnson as “general guidelines for how to weigh one alternative against another”(Johnson 6). In this way, values allow for a group to have a set of points or guidelines to follow in terms of behavior and action. Many values correlate to guiding principals that can be extremely important for a culture to use as a guide. Some of the values that my family finds most important are honesty, trustworthiness, and teamwork. These values help us to set up expectations and guidelines for our actions.…
