Personal Narrative: My Vacation To Wisconsin

In today’s society, every region has a different and unique language. It is a clear indication of where you are from. We take for granted our unique dialects across the country and even the world. We are all so different yet we can all connect. This whole concept was unthought of by me for a very long time, until I visited my friend Lauryn’s family in Wisconsin. The summer after my freshman year of high school my friend Lauryn asked me if I would like to visit her family in Wisconsin for a week. I had never been to Wisconsin, and had no idea what to expect so I said yes. The trip, was around eight to nine hours, and we only stopped at gas stations, and to get food around four times. Lauryn and I went upstairs from the basement we were staying in, and when we got upstairs Lauryn’s great grandma was fixing waffles. I remember her saying “good morning dear’s”, and I instantly became aware of her accent. She seemed to have a way of rounding out all of her words, and adding an O sound to words that didn’t have one to begin with. The first day we spent around the house because it rained, and no one wanted to go anywhere. So, Lauryn and I decided to explore her great grandma’s house. It was a beautiful house that sat on a hill. It was an open floor plan house, as soon as you walked through the front door there was the living room with high, vaulted ceiling, and to the right was the kitchen with an island right in the middle. All of the colors were warm, and neutrals such as; orange, yellow, and varieties of tan. The basement was very eclectic with vintage coke merchandise everywhere.
