Personal Narrative: My Vacation In Florida

Improved Essays
Every three years, we take a vacation. Florida. Florida. Florida. The same place. Every. Single. Time. Why? Family. 6 PM the night before. We go to bed, to get prepared for a long day. Anxiety overwhelms my ability to sleep. I finally feel sleepy, and start to drift off. The next morning, my parents wake me up at 2 A.M. to go to the airport. I get out of bed with the feeling of a zombie. I just want to sleep. I get dressed, and head down to the car. We load our luggage, and head towards the airport. I fall asleep in the car, just for that extra hour of sleep. I wake up as I feel the car slowing down. We’re pulling into the terminal. We say goodbye to my step-dad, and go in. My mom gets frustrated with the check in computer. She won’t let anyone help her. We wait fifteen minutes for her to figure it out. We get our boarding passes, and get in the …show more content…
Put on my seatbelt, and watch the flight attendants put on their “play”. My anticipation for the flight to take off gets bigger and bigger. Finally, I hear the jet engines roaring up. We start moving, faster, and faster by the second. I start to feel the plane going up. I have the sense of gaining altitude. I start getting sleepy, and don’t remember anything, until we started our descent. We were about to land in Memphis to catch our final flight to Fort Lauderdale. I feel the bump of the landing wheels touching the ground. We wait ten minutes for a gate to be open. In the meantime, we taxi about the tarmac. Finally, we get a gate. We are one of the first ones off the plane. We make it off the plane, and head to the next gate. We wait another eternity for the crew to start boarding. After that eternity ends, we are moving towards the jetway. It feels like a walk of infinity. Once on the final flight, I am seated with an older couple that I spoke to throughout the flight. In this flight my ears kept popping. Needless to say, it was very

Hawaiian Punch full of Rum and something else. Boy, did I have one hell of a hangover the following day! Another guy walked into the barracks later that afternoon and asked if anyone wanted to rent motorbikes and drive over to Phoenix City, Alabama (which was considered to be the danger zone). Deciding to get out for a while, we went to the bus stop and took a ride to the bike rental shop in downtown Columbus, Georgia. Taking off over the bridge to Alabama to see what all the fuss was about, we ended up at the bars in ‘Combat Alley’ We checked them out just long enough to get an idea that the area was no big deal, before deciding to ride back to downtown Columbus, feeling a little better on the return trip.…

I can’t believe that I got the opportunity to take this trip, but now in my opinion this is probably not a good idea because this raggedy old carrier plane probably could never make it across the ocean. If it wasn’t for this plane having a small, dirty, and old jeep sitting in it collecting dust for what seemed to be years maybe it would not seem so terrifying. However all the money I had saved went into this horrifying plane ride, and my “room” on this island of dreams. After take off it was hours until I felt some major turbulence and then BANG! The plane’s cargo bay door flew open and started to suck everything in the bay out into the open air.…

Out of the many vacations I have taken, going to Orlando Florida was definitely my favorite. First of all, I got to swim with dolphins at a place called Discovery Cove. Discovery Cove offered many cool things to do, such as swimming with dolphins, which was my favorite part. The dolphin that I swam with was named Kai, and I even got a picture with him. I also got to snorkel with stingrays, but they had their stingers cut off for safety reasons.…
