From my personal experience, when I was in elementary school I remember my teacher would let us sit on yoga ball it always helped me concentrate and it helped me when I was really active because I could not move around, it will make me fall if I move around. I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. So if one day you're feeling antsy you can just stand. Also I think if your tired it could help you stay awake. Mark Benden also states that sitting desk can cause kids to be obese, he also says that too much sitting is bad for your health.…
The End of 5th Grade He's the best teacher I've ever had. He was like a uncle to me, he means so much to me. I could tell him anything. That's why the tears won't stop raining down as I hear the news.…
Sitting in a hard plastic chair in my math class I felt paralyzed. The heat in the room was unimaginable on the cool autumn day. I could not be the only one that was feeling it. At the same time I could barely keep head straight as the math test stared back at me with harsh eyes telling me “you will never be able to pass this class,” in a slithering tone. A drop of sweat rolled down the side of my face.…
Math had always came easily to me. I was known as the math know-it-all because I would be finished with homework assignments before class was even over. Thus, in ninth grade, my Algebra I teacher told me that I should go into a honor level math class. My first honors level class was a breeze to me. We could hand in homework late, revise tests and quizzes, and had perfect notes given to us in class.…
I was assigned to work together with Lisa Adamson and Katie Doherty. My group and I were in charge to teach chapter eight sections four and five. Chapter eight section four was about functions, and chapter eight section five is about coordinate system. Surprisingly, our group previously taught a lesson of a fifth grade math class, and our sections tied into teaching up to the middle and high school level. I enjoyed these sections and I will discuss how I felt working as my group and how I individually performed.…
In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…
That Day in Fourth Grade “People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something you must learn, and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. -Glinda” One of my best friends today, Teonna Frye, has influenced a lot of the choices that have made me into who I am today. I first met her as a “not-so-little,” brown-haired fourth grader. She was a giant that towered over all the kids in our grade.…
I have mixed feelings about his agument. First I feel students do need math in high school and middle school. I also belive the complex math they teach in school is not a good idea becuase the most students don't need that math after high school. So lets do some decutive reasoning. Im a student who will work a low paying job the rest of my life.…
Summer Session I already came to an end. This class flew by so quickly. Since my last class participation assessment, I think I continued to show good work. I tried my best in class. Although all the reading in Mosaic I was amazing, Unit 2 was my favorite.…
Seventh grade has been a mix of amazing and crazy. You might be wondering why I don’t have a chapter for sixth grade. In fifth grade, I had expressed how I felt bored and that school work was too easy. My mother took this into account. She talked about it at conferences with my fifth grade homebase, Mrs. Breza.…
I first saw "e" on my TI-36 calculator 2 years ago. I did not know what it was. Originally, my thought process told me that "e" was just an alternative symbol for pi that is only used in advanced and college math courses. But my brain decided that "e" was one of those an alphabetical variables I was seeing in my problems. (I was taking Algebra 1 at the time.).…
Algebra 1 was a very difficult subject and concept for me to grasp. I struggled very hard, but still could not understand. I spent numerous hours studying, hoping that I finally understood the materials. I felt like I was a failure. I tried asking my teacher for assistance, but he never really helped me.…
Ultimately, I didn’t perform as well as wanted to on the tests and my motivation and moral were starting to become depleted. This was the worst I have ever felt in my math career since I was not performing at my fullest potential and I knew I could do way better. This is where everything changed, I knew that if I was going to succeed in my future classes that are going to be as difficult as this class, then I had to prove to myself that I could succeed…
It was the end of 6th Grade and his Seth Smith’s grades were dropping quickly. His parents would get on him every night and tell him he had to get his grades up if he wanted to have a fun summer. Not in Summer School. It was the summer of 2012 in San Diego. Seth had gotten his grades up right at the end of 6th Grade.…
IMath has never been my strongest subject. It doesn't help that prior to deciding to go back to school it had been about ten years since my last math class. I had to take College Algebra last semester and I really struggled through the first half or more of the class. While registering for classes this semester I realized that College Algebra is not even going to count as one of my required math classes for my major.…
