At the age of 10 I had a decision to make. To go on a long trip to Yankton with all my friends for a whole weekend. Or stay at home and watch my own football team. I woke up at 10:00 am on a Saturday morning and I noticed that my Hawkeyes candle is brighter than any other day. They play today at 11:00 so I have a whole hour to waste time. I walked upstairs to eat and I met my mom in the kitchen. We had a conversation as I poor a bole of captain crunch. She mentioned that my Uncles want to take me to Yankton also she said that I can bring friends and that if i want to go that they will pick me up as soon as possible. I sat there and i thought to myself. “I don't know mom. Ill tell you in ten minutes.” As I walked down the stairs and walked

Ever since I was a little girl I have fantasized about living in South Dakota. I don’t know necessarily what appealed to me about living there, but it was always my dream. Maybe it was the idea of green grass swaying in the wind, or buffaloes freely roaming around. Being a small town girl, I’ve always been looking for a change. I start my trip from the location of frenzied outfitting activity throughout the 1840s and early 1850s, Independence (Missouri) was the jumping-off point for the Santa Fe and Oregon trails. The town includes several historic buildings, monuments and Independence Spring. As the place of convergence of early routes from the Mississippi Valley, this square was the last significant point of supply until the mid-1840s, when Westport also became an outfitting town. When I visited Independence in 1846, I found, "a great Babel of African slaves, indolent dark-skinned Spaniards, profane and dust-laden bullwhackers going to and from Santa Fe with their immense wagons, and emigrant families bound for the Pacific, all cheerful and intent on their embarkation…

It was a chilly February day and a bunch of boys and I were discussing playing a game of road hockey after school. We were all sitting around in our 6th-grade science class talking about who should we invite to this big extravagant hockey game. We talked about all the details; such as when the game is, who’s invited and where would we be playing. We all decided on a 3:30 at Davids house and that we would have 9 of us play. By now we were all excited about playing the game and we all just had to survive the school day.…

For the face-to-face reference encounter, I visited the Geneseo Public Library also known as the George B. Dedrick Library. I asked for information about the theft of the Mona Lisa. I was hoping to find a book or possible access to a database with articles that may have ran in the newspapers at that time. The librarian did not conduct a reference interview. I was informed that there was no information available at that particular library, I was then encouraged to ask my home library to interlibrary loan a book for me or try a bigger library.…

As we arrived to the city, we had to wait a few minutes to cross the George Washington Bridge because there was a lot of traffic. After waiting for a while we drove across the bridge and as we made our way across I saw a lot of skyscrapers, including the New World Trade Center and the Empire State Building. We arrived to a place where we had to wait for more than an hour to get on a ferry boat that would take us to the Statue of Liberty.…
