Personal Narrative: My Trip To Toronto

Decent Essays
Toronto, a beautiful place where I had many friends. I knew the city inside out, I knew our mayor went to jail last week, and I knew the future mayor was going to kill us all. Then, I moved away. When I came to Miami I was going through a lot of depression. I stopped playing sports and spent most of the day on my laptop. My mom saw what I was doing and decided to sign me up for 2 weeks of soccer camp. I dislike soccer, I am a fan of other sports including basketball and soccer.

When I got to the drop-off I begged my mom to let me go home. She said that everyone is a beginner here, But they were pretty good, everyone here could play soccer like some superstar and I was learning how to dribble the ball. It eventually got to the point

I currently reside in Markham, the city is a part of York Region and is located just north of Toronto. I moved there at the end of eighth grade, and since then it has been my hometown. Markham is a boring place to be, rarely does anything eventful ever happens, and there is really nothing to do, there is a mall, a theatre and occasionally there’s a festival, which is pretty much it. This is aided by the fact that crime is low in the city, there are few murders and little robberies, with most notable crimes being the occasional weed deal here and there. Markham is also a quiet place, mainly thanks to a small population, the minimal traffic and lack of pedestrians keeps noise to a minimum.…

I was born in Detroit and moved away before I had my brain was able to create memories. The only part of Detroit I knew was downtown. I’d go there for Tiger games, the Science Center, and the D.I.A. Before coming to U of D, I had the same stereotypical view of Detroit as most of United States. I thought of Detroit as being a city with a nice downtown but dangerous and rundown everywhere else. I was so wrong.…

Moving to Canada was very difficult because I didn't know anyone and the environment was very unfamiliar. I was culture shocked. I'm not going to say that my English was awful but it wasn't superb either. I didn't have any friends and I've never felt so alone in my life. I was proud of myself because I really strived to better my English so I can improve my conversation skills.…

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

“Good afternoon hockey fans, Im Doc Emrick beside Eddie Olczyk, we are here in Detroit Michigan at Joe Louis Arena! We have a good game coming, San Jose Sharks vs. Detroit Red Wings game 7 of the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals”. “Yeah Doc, this has been a tough series, very physical game play by these two teams, we've seen stats we have never seen before in the cup finals, each team is averaging 60 shots on goal a game, that is insane!” “Thanks Eddie, now we go to center ice for the puck drop.” I was really nervous, in my rookie season, 19 years old, my team…

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

Times have been rough, but I am sure you are aware of this. I am writing to you in a time of extremely dire circumstances. During a case I was part of not too long ago a discourteous lawyer absolutely engulfed in his work decided to say such words that have lifted a forgotten sprit within me. After speaking to the Attorney General about allowing 'mixed company' to be present in cases about prostitution, I was much too overjoyed about winning that I failed to realize the many injustices that are still prevailing, ruining our fellow sisters. It is because of this reason that when I heard such infantile words come out of that lawyers mouth was I absolutely appalled.…

One of the biggest personal challenges I faced was before I moved back to Lawrence I lived in a rural small town on the frontier of Kansas and Oklahoma. I was in Junior high school at the time and the town was very traditional and old-fashioned and having a new student at the time was very seldom to occur. I soon found myself being verbally and even sometimes physically attacked for being the only Native American student in the school district and that was so troubling to me just because I was just trying to get my education to better myself and make friends. My reaction at the time to the event was turning to one of my favorite teachers, he helped me confront the bullies and helped me through my troublesome time. The way he treated me was…

There isn’t anything more breathtaking than going Up North. If you’re not from Michigan you might be wondering, “Where up north?” In Michigan we use “up north” as a term for the upper half of the mitten, I’d say from the top of the thumb up. The UP (Upper Peninsula) can be considered Up North but normally it's just the UP.…

Florida, a place where the weather is always good and the beaches are beautiful. Not for me though, I’m not some pessimist who hates sunshine or anything. I just have lived in it for so long, every year getting hotter and more humid. As the years “grated” on the only reason I could stand living there was because of my two best (and only friends). The 11 month summers were the worst parts.…
