Personal Narrative: My Trip To The University Of Delaware

Decent Essays
I can clearly see myself walking the University of Delaware campus. This school was the first college I saw. Ever since I visited UD when I was a little girl, I would imagine myself being just like one of the college kids when I grew up. I think that the location is perfect for me because Delaware is not too far from New Jersey so I will be able to visit home on occasion. I believe that the size of the school may leave me a bit stretched. My high school contained around 3,500 students. Going into a bigger school than the previous one was always a bit scary for me when I was younger. I had the same thought when going to highschool, of being somewhat nervous about the size of the school and the abundant amount of students attending. I adjusted

Transitioning occurs in all stages of life whether it’s from a baby crawling to walking, or an elder moving from their home to a retirement facility. One transition in life that most of us face is the evolution from high school to a college or a university. With moving into a new phase of my life I was optimistic about the difficulties of becoming comfortable with the population, the diversity, and the college life in general that Wayne State provides. I made the leap to a big city called Detroit from a small city called my home. I live in a small urban city, downriver, called Wyandotte.…

Over the last several years, I have learned much about Santa Clara University and I am convinced that it would be a perfect fit for me. Many Punahou alumni have attended SCU and they all loved their time there. My high school counselor also recommended SCU, and after extensive research, I visited campus during a trip to the Bay Area during last spring. Throughout my visit, I realized that the supportive, welcoming atmosphere was similar to Punahou and I immediately felt comfortable on campus. I continue to receive email and pamphlets about the school and know that I want to spend the next four years of my education at Santa Clara…

Hamilton took me by surprise. I knew it was a small liberal arts college, but I had no grasp on how unique and genuine the community was. So many people said hi to my tour guide, Emily, as she showed me around -- including the line cook in the dining hall! I also heard how a student emailed 10 alumni to help her with something, and all of them replied to her. This kind of close-knit, loving family is what I want in a college experience.…

From my brief experience at Howard Payne University, I discovered a few important things. First of all, college is much more than merely obtaining a degree. It is composed of creating memories, encountering new friends, learning life lessons, and so much more. Secondly, HPU is an excellent place to develop in faith. From the outstanding chapel services to the accepting Christian atmosphere, I noticed myself becoming closer to God each day.…

Reminiscing back I vividly remember my brother and all the other notable alumni dawdling across the stage which seemed to be a navy blue army of education individuals at Health Policy and Administration graduation. It was at that moment I realized I wanted to continue a new Finner family legacy of being a Penn State student. Over these past few months I have questioned my abilities of continuing this legacy because I was too focused on statistics. As I was engaged in deep conversation with my brother that I realized, I am not a statistic. Growing up with three older brothers who have all strived in every aspect of their life and a struggling single mother who knew absolutely nothing about collegiate education has definitely molded me into…

It was the twenty-third of October in the year of 2014 at exactly 2:15 P.M. the day was so far very beautiful as I went to Lamar’s University’s Geology building in room 101. When I walked in, it looked like a lecture room that I would have expected to see most of my college life. It bolstered my anxiety for college to new heights as I became worried about my future; I prayed that this presentation that Dr. Beth Anderson was doing would help me feel positive or “Thinking Optimistically” for my life here at Lamar University. By the time, I had found a place to sit in the lecture room, which had rows of seats in front of me that were in what I call “Stairwell Formation,” the lecture rooms doors began to close. This gave me the signal that the presentation was about to begin, as I waited to see what was going to happen next I looked around the room to see who the rest of the audience was.…
