Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Sioux City Museum

Decent Essays
What do you think of when I say the word friend? Someone you can talk to, a shoulder to lean on, someone to trust, not to forget you, or leave you, or abandon you? Like the toys from toy story, when Andy leaves, they go try to find him. When you leave would you’re friends go and try to find you? Even when you’re 1,200 miles away. I abandon my friends once, I wish I didn’t, but I did. The not so good-goodbye There were four weeks of school left, it was an awesome day right after our trip to the Sioux City museum. When I got home little did I know my mom would give the news? LUKE!!! She yells from down stairs

A Friend: often defined as a person who is on good terms with another or someone that provides assistance to the person in question. A Friend is someone that is willing to help you at any given moment, a person that is with you through the best of times and the worst. A person that doesn’t turn their back when the odds aren’t in your favor. A person that advises you on how to better yourself and how to keep oneself sane in today's never-ending maze of decisions and dilemmas. In the case of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the seemingly never-ending grief that is brought upon him due to the assassination of his father brings him to realize the true value of his friends around him.…

As I travel to and fro the Bronx campus every Wednesday, I always look forward to driving on the historic 108-years-old Queens Borough bridge; especially, on the return journey. Why? Driving on the outskirt of the bridge, gives a feeling of hanging on the side rail of the ship deck; wherefore, if I have made any incorrect maneuver, the tragedy would be devastating. The first week I drove on it, I was scared; as a result, I drove below the speed limit of 30 MPH, while admiring its medieval style architectural work, it’s such a great feeling. I thought of writing about this amazing bridge, but instead, chose to present a twenty-first contemporary art.…

Thomas Aquinas once said “There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship”. Regarding this, having a lack of close relationships with others would produce a difficult and empty life. Friends should guide others through tough decisions and to direct them into the right direction. Also, they should provide a sense of hope to lift spirits of close ones. Furthermore, companions are reliable people that can be trusted.…

For the face-to-face reference encounter, I visited the Geneseo Public Library also known as the George B. Dedrick Library. I asked for information about the theft of the Mona Lisa. I was hoping to find a book or possible access to a database with articles that may have ran in the newspapers at that time. The librarian did not conduct a reference interview. I was informed that there was no information available at that particular library, I was then encouraged to ask my home library to interlibrary loan a book for me or try a bigger library.…

I was on a trip to Dodge City for a baseball tournament. It wasn’t a long trip in my mind, most of the baseball players stayed in the same hotel called the Dodge House. It’s a really nice hotel it doesn’t look like on the outside, but wait till you go inside. In the center of the hotel it’s a big open space, it has a half court basketball, has volleyball, it even has arcade games to play, but they cost money to play, it has a weight room, it has a hot tud and a pool with two slides and has a place for seating to have a little party it’s fun I recommend this place if you ever go to Dodge City.…

Friends, how many of us have them? FRIENDS ones we can depend on. These lines are very well known from the 1984 hit single by Whodini, but in reality is agreat question to ask yourself. Whodini’s first rhyme says “Friends is a word we use everyday most the time we use it in the wrong way.”, with that being said we all confuse the definition or just have our own meaning for the the word, but me, I couldn’t answer the Friends question til I knew the true meaning of a friend. The essay Friends , Good Friends, and Such Good Friends by Judith Viorst gives multiple variations of friends, and like I did you can use it to see which category your peers land under.…

I have had vast extremes when visiting art museums. I remember going to the Nelson Atkins Museum as a high school field trip. After getting off the bus we were greeted by a docent that led us through the museum stopping at paintings of his choice and telling us about that painting and his opinions on it. While passing past others with just a brief description of the artist and art. There was no interaction, as students we were quiet, we listened, and we were quite bored.…

INTRODUCTION: Today is an usually warm day being that we are still in winter, really nice day to hop on my motorcycle and take a ride from the Bronx to Brooklyn and visit the museum. However this wasn’t a casual trip, this trip was a part of an assignment given by my art professor. He instructed the class to visit the Brooklyn museum’s Egyptian Gallery area, carefully observe and specifically describe and analyze a piece of Art from this section of my choosing. Upon my arrival I felt excited with a bit of anxiety mix in, the staff was pleasant and directed me to the third floor where “Arts of Ancient Egypt” were being displayed.…

I was constantly left out of things and had to push my way back into conversations. As uncomfortable and as hard as these moments were to go through, they were the moments that showed me what I valued in my friends. It also showed me that they weren’t the people I was supposed to be friends with. As time goes on I become more and more confident and comfortable with the decisions that I have made that have made in choosing the friends that I have today.
