My trip to the Barnes Foundation museum was enjoyable and informative. On my trip, as we moved through the galleria I was astounded by how the rooms in the galleria were arranged. It was not like your average museum, with one or two paintings on the walls with a description of it underneath. Instead, there were rooms with paints all over the walls, along with iron work that correlated with the pieces. When I visited George Washington my sophomore year of high school, I instantly knew that your school is where I wanted to go for college. It just wasn't like any of the other colleges that I had seen before, and for that matter it was unlike any I have seen since. Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory is now a haunting museum which tells the story of how Polish Jews were before, during, and after the war. It’s one of the most highly regarded museums in Krakow. It’s an interactive museum dedicated to the history of the Nazi occupation of Krakow during World War II. The Holocaust is a pivotal time in recent history and the Holocaust Memorial Museum is an important reminder to this cataclysmic event. Not only do I believe it is important to remember this event but 38 million people since 1993 have been to the Memorial Museum to see why it is so important to understand what this mass murder represented. George Santayana famously stated, "Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it." and I fear that this may hold true to our generation. I have always had a passion for history and storytelling since I was a child and decided in seventh grade world history class that I wanted to be an archaeologist, discovering ancient cultures and uncovering their secrets. I maintained this plan, arriving at Boston University as an archaeology major but after several semesters of study realized that it wasn’t the exact path for me.
