Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Museum Of High School

Decent Essays
I’ve noticed most people my age don’t know what they are going to be doing out of high school, some don’t even know what they are going to have for dinner tomorrow night. Thankfully, I know both. I know what I’m going to do out of high school and what I’m going to do after college. P.S. I’m having grilled cheese tomorrow night for dinner.

The spring break of 7th grade my family, last minute, decided to go to Washington D.C. And by last minute I mean we decided on Sunday and we left Monday night. I had never been to D.C. but my dad had been there a lot because one of my dad’s best friends worked for NASA for a little while and he still lives there. I was extremely excited because I have always loved American History, especially the World Wars.

We all got to choose a couple things we wanted to do while we were there. I wanted to go to the National Archives and the Museum of American History, my mom wanted to go to the Museum of Natural history, and to old town Alexandria, my dad wanted to go go see the Changing of the Guard and the Tomb of the Unknown soldier at Arlington Cemetery and the Museum of Air and space.

On the first full day we were there we did went to the all the stuff I wanted to do, We saw the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and The Bill of Rights at the National Archives. That was pretty much all they had their for the public to see. Then we went to the museum of American History and saw the Rosa Parks Bus, Abraham Lincoln's famous top hat, and the flag that flew over Fort McHenry at the battle of Fort McHenry, when the words of the Star Spangled Banner were written. On the second day we did the things my mom wanted to do but nothing interesting really

The hardest thing I’ve ever went through? Let me take you back to almost three years ago to a very cold Thursday morning in January. I was sitting in history class when suddenly something very strange happened; the announcement speakers came on. To most people it would seem like it was a very typical day to day event to listen to announcements; but at my school announcements were rarely ever said. My classroom got completely silent; to the point where you could have heard a pin drop.…

It quickly went from a nice, fun, vacation to a painful, terrible, nightmare. Just about every year before school starts while my mom has meetings for teachers, my dad takes my sister and I on a small, five day trip to different places. This year, we decided to go to St Louis. Little did I know that this trip would soon turn south very, very, fast.…

My years in high school were quite thrilling and adventurous. Starting as a freshman, I had no idea where I was going and what was going to be expected of me. Over the years I became involved with extracurricular activities which led to my primary interest I had developed in technology and the sciences. As a freshman I joined the Students with Future Interests in Technology Club, Spanish Club, and Robotics Club. These clubs stayed with me till I graduated high school and I have loved them ever since I got involved in them.…

When we got to the city we had to drive around the Tidal basin before we got to the house. But that's where we saw the most beautiful trees in the world! We came in the springtime so all the trees were in mid-bloom. When we got to my grandparents house we unpacked and got settled in while my mom and grandma made dinner and let me tell you,it was the best meal I ever ate. When we woke up the next morning we had breakfast and voted on which monument we wanted to see first and we decided on the FDR memorial.…

We saw the National Space and air Museum. It maintains the largest collection of history air and spacecraft in the world. We really liked it. We also saw the Lincoln Memorial, which was located at the west end of the National Mall. From the top of the stairs, in the front of the memorial, you have a great view of the Washington Monument at the U.S. Capitol.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

Today began at The Evergreen State College parking lot at 8:43 a.m. where I met the rest of the class in front of the vans. At this time, the weather was extremely cloudy/foggy and 55 F. As I looked around the parking lot, I noted some spring flowers (I believe to be camas) beginning to bloom, clover, dandelions and numerous buds chirping. We left campus by 9:05 a.m. and from there we headed towards the Seattle History Museum with the goal of learning more about the Pacific Northwest’s history and get some nice sunshine while we were at it. Throughout the drive, I took observations every 15 minutes; at 9:20 a.m. we passed the Marvin Rd exit in Lacey, at 9:35 a.m. we passed Joint Base Lewis-McChord, at 9:50 a.m.…
