Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Dominican Republic

Last summer my family and I went out of the country to the Dominican Republic. We vacation out of the country every year to places like Mexico, Jamaica, and Dominican Republic. This year we were in Punta Cana on a beautiful resort. For the first couple of days we just chilled out on the beach and the pool. It was an all inclusive resort so everything was free, food, drink, anything you wanted it was free. It was very hot and humid and if you did not go in the water to cool off you would have sweated to death. On the fifth day down there we went on a tour of the city of Punta Cana. It was basically just all slums and it was sad to see. We rode through the city on an air conditioned bus so it wasn’t bad for us. But the people outside I felt bad for because it was terribly hot and terribly …show more content…
Some people were living in huts and looked like the Indians. Some houses were made up of gathered materials and it basically looked like a third world country. Towards the end of the tour we got up and walked around to the shops to buy merchandise. Jewelry and alcohol were their main selling points. They did not care what age you were they were going to try and sell you alcohol. Although, the drinking age down there and in many countries is 18. I believe that is what the United States legal age should be as well. But when we got out of the bus the humidity just hit you and you felt bad for the people outside trying to sell stuff. It had to be around 100 degrees; at least that is what it felt like. I was sweating up a storm and I was out of the bus for about a minute. As I was walking around I saw the shops and the houses and I felt blessed to not have been living in those conditions. It made living in the United States seem like a dream. When I got home I really appreciated my house, clothes, family, friends, and the vibes of the United States. We truly are blessed to be living in the greatest country of all

This March, my family and I took a trip to Mexico for vacation. We did many fun things down there such as; parasailing, went on a boat for a day trip, sail boating, went swimming in the ocean, buggy board, sand volleyball, swam in the pool, walked the beach at night, got henna tattoos, a dread in our hair and went to the club with my brother and Emerson. But the first day in particular sticks out to me the most, the day we went parasailing and sail boating. Waking up in the morning in your soft hotel comforter, gives you a great feeling.…
