Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Chicag Chicago

Improved Essays
During the summer, I enjoy going to the downtown area and watch the city come to life. There is always something to see or do during the summer months in the Chicago land area. Just exploring the lakefront by walking or riding a bike is exciting. To see so many people riding their bikes and running is enough to motivate anyone.

The biggest problem I have is finding time to fit these activities into my schedule. There is always a festival going on every weekend in Chicago (Chicago Rib Fest, Blues Fest, Jazzfest, and Taste of Chicago). This year, I attend the Chicago Rib Fest located on the north side of town. The ribs were so tender that they were just falling off the bone. The venue is small and finding parking is terrible, but it was still worth every penny I spent that day.

How can you live in Chicago and not have your favorite pizzeria phone number memorized or on speed dial? New York tries its best to compare its pies to Chicago, but who likes a thin piece of white bread with cheese on it. Deep dish pizza is a Chicago original, and no other city can compare their pies to us. Others may disagree with that statement I have just typed, but this is my opinion.

Paintball is one of those activities when shooting accurately and running fast is key to victory. I would also like to mention you need a game plan and playing as a team wouldn't hurt either. I viewed the younger players playing the game as if it was a video game, and believing that their ammo will never end. I find it interesting to see them get flanked playing the game, and then wonder why they keep losing. I guess from their point of view, who needs a game plan or

My trip to the Barnes Foundation museum was enjoyable and informative. On my trip, as we moved through the galleria I was astounded by how the rooms in the galleria were arranged. It was not like your average museum, with one or two paintings on the walls with a description of it underneath. Instead, there were rooms with paints all over the walls, along with iron work that correlated with the pieces. Our tour guide elaborated on how he did not wish for there to be a description under the pieces of art stating their background.…

Gordon More, the author of this article, is an outdoor recreation fanatic, operates a kayaking company, managed a ski resort as well as lives for these sports and paintball, presents all of these statistics out of 100,000 exposures each year. “Paintball: 0.2, Tackle Football/Downhill Skiing: 3.8, Ice Hockey: 3.7, and Soccer/Baseball: 2.8”. Paintball is only 0.2 injuries per 100,000, compared to soccer at 2.8. That is astonishing. The predetermined assumption that any other sport is safer than paintball is proven inaccurate by these statistics, paintball doesn’t even compare to the amount of injuries retained by other sports.…

One experience that shaped my character as a person was my part-time job in high school. I worked as tour guide in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Being a tour guide pushes a person to be open minded and curious about other people. I remember having a tour group from New York City, and we had a great conversation when we were comparing our respective Chinatowns. The conversation had me continuously think of questions and reply to their question with an answer to the best of my ability.…

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

The next morning, Mercy surprised Surina by joining her for breakfast on the sunny terrace in the backyard of her cottage. They enjoyed the leisurely meal to the sound of honey bees buzzing around an assortment of flowers in full bloom lining the edges of the garden. Indeed, the fragrance of the rhododendrons, chrysanthemums, foxgloves, roses, and lilies of the valley intermingled to create a unique heavenly perfume. In the past, Surina’s kinetic pace never allowed her enough time for breakfast other than a hasty granola bar before frantically rushing off to the hospital. In contrast, today she luxuriated in a proper full English breakfast.…
