Personal Narrative: My Trip To San Diego

Decent Essays
Summer of 2012, hot, sunny, and one of the longest trips of my life. My family decided that we wanted to go to California for a vacation. But of course sports had a conflict with it so we had to delay it a few days. My sister Hannah played MAYB basketball and her team was going to Nationals in Oklahoma. Nationals is where everyone from out of state comes and play and competes to be the best. I was 11 years old at the time so I thought everyone who played was as good as the WNBA. This took about three or four days before we could actually leave for our vacation. Finally we were off to one of my favorite places, San Diego. One of the reasons we went to San Diego is because my father was born there, and of course because it’s CALIFORNIA.

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…
