Happy birthday to the best Grandma that I have ever had. There are so many fun memories that we had together as a family, and out of those fun experiences, here are some highlights of the adventures we had. The Human GPS- When I was in fourth or fifth grade, Grand Jerry and Grandma came to visit Ben and I for the weekend. The part that I remember the most was when I tried to give directions, at eleven years old, to the Crocker Art Museum, from Davis to Sacramento. That year, my class took a fascinating field trip of which I wanted to share with my Grandparents. The trip to Sacramento went smoothly, changing lanes and getting off of the correct exit. Once we were in the city was when the confusion went to full volume. Not knowing the layout of the city, I focused on the general direction of the museum causing us to almost go down a busy one way street and into intimidating neighborhoods that surrounded our destination. After …show more content…
We had the idea to go see a movie downtown for a matinee showing. After scheduling the time, we found a perfect parking spot right across the street of the Movie theater. Grandpa Jerry, Ben, and I were about ready to cross when Grandma called after us pointing in the direction of a crosswalk a couple yards away. That was when Jerry exclaimed, “Come on Grandma! Live a Little,” and proceeded crossing the street slowly, stopping all traffic from either direction with Ben, Grandma, and I nervous but laughing behind him.

These we some of many memorable experiences that I have had with you, Grandma. You are always so energetic and the most interested in everything that I do and or interested in. Thank you for being so kind and wonderful with all of the generous things that you do. This trip will be another fun adventure that might even top the rest by having just a fun time with you. I hope that you have a great Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my friend, Donna. I am grateful for her life, her gifts, and her friendship. She is an accomplished dance instructor who specializes in the Fosse technique style of jazz. I discovered her class about fifteen years ago, danced with her on and off for about six years, and I credit her for making me the dancer I am today. I grew up watching all those wonderful old MGM musicals with Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, and Fred Astaire.…

    1. I grew up in San Francisco in an area where the majority of residents had lives there for generations. In my building all of my neighbors were older than my parents and a few were even older than my grandparents. Mrs. Garcia was a woman who lived in the apartment under us. She was in her 90s and had lost most of her hearing by the time I was eight…

Lemoore, California. The 559, the 93245, the small rural town located in the central region of the San Joaquin Valley. A place that will melt flip flops to the ground in the summer, yet it will have people gathering around a fire in the winter with their hands wrapped tightly around a steaming cup of cocoa. Not much goes on in this town and it is not quite what someone would call a vacation destination, but there is indeed something special about this town. This special characteristic is the way religion connects and creates a family out of the majority of people who live in this town.…

When we moved back to Los Fresnos, my mom would take my brother and I to the library in the summer at the beginning of my sixth grade year. I remember the first time my mother took my brother and I to the library. The long rows of bookshelves were a true sight to behold. In that instant, it was as if my mom read my mind. “Now, let’s go get you two your first library card.”…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

Hi Ms. Pierce, Hope you had a wonderful break and a nice day, The word I would use to describe my break is deciphering because I got a break from dance and school. For example, I was able to sleep to try to avenge the early wakings during school days and early dance practices. In addition to that, I had nothing to be concerned about. Having a break from both school and dance gave me time to think about myself and what I wanted for my future; besides, I was able to unwind. The time I had was crucial to me because sometimes in the middle of all the activities in the year I have no time to think.…

In January of last year I went on a trip to Colorado on a "college visit" with a friend and my father to University of Colorado Boulder. We left Wednesday night, skipping school both Thursday and Friday. We did go to the college and took a tour of the campus on Thursday which I greatly enjoyed, it is beautiful out there and at elevation there is very little humidity. The true intention of the trip, as important as the college visit was, was to go to Breckenridge Resort and spend the weekend snowboarding. A couple of my dad's friends were also going and we were going to share their timeshare.…

Growing up in Southern California we spent most of our summers at Lake Havasu and Parker. For as long as I can remember, getting to spend my summers on the lake with my close friends and family was what got me through the school year, knowing that for a full month I would have no cares in the world except for what adventures lay ahead of us. As the school year came to an end, all we could think about was getting to the lake to start our last summer together before we all ventured off in separate directions. Starting to pack and load up the RV was all I could think about for days, seeing as this was the last summer we would all spend together.…

Eulogy It never occurred to me that I would be up here so soon, talking about my Grandmother, Joyce White instead of celebrating her birthday with her and talking about the good old times when I was a little girl. I remembered my Grandmother as a beautiful lady with long black dark hair, rosy cheeks and red lips. She was not your typical grandma who baked cookies, stay in the house all day and knit sweaters, she was a woman who enjoyed life to its fullest. I used to remember when I was a little girl, I would love when my grandma comb my hair, she would plait my hair and when she is done, I would say to her, “Mama do not forget to fix my baby hair at the front with the brush,” she would smile and say “yes Kay, I did not forget.” She was a…
