Personal Narrative: My Trip To Port Canaveral, Florida

Improved Essays
My family and I headed to Port Canaveral, Florida in November of 2014 to go on a cruise on the Carnival Sunshine. It was a long drive and I was a little scared of the idea of being on a boat, for 7 days, out at sea for 7 days straight since I had never cruised before. Like, wonder if it wrecks? What happens if we start to sink? Will we get lost? We made a couple food stops and I listened to music and read on the way. When we got there we stayed in the hotel overnight, planning to catch a van in the morning to take us to the ship. We were all really excited, especially me and my cousins because this was our first cruise, and the hotel was amazing. It seemed as if when I finally was able to fall asleep because of excitement, it was bright and …show more content…
This took him to the end of the slide and his foot was cut on the vent. The slides were closed for quite a while, as they were disinfecting the water since there was blood in it. That poor man had to go on crutches the rest of the cruise. Although,he next few days were amazing. I could feel the rocking motion but I just kept myself busy. All the kids in the family would even play around and as we walked through the halls, we’d pretend to fall into the walls as the boat leaned that way, but a couple of the times weren’t faked. We got of at Cozumel first, I believe. The whole family went to a beach and played in the clear, blue ocean. The sand there is very different from that at Myrtle Beach, where I normally go. There, it was very light and had lots of shells. Us kids brought goggles and snorkels and we got to see some fish swimming in the water. Me and one of my cousins even swam over some rocks that were in water about five feet deep and we saw some very colorful fish. It was beautiful. We also got off at Costa Maya one day and Isla Roatan, Honduras another. We were supposed to be able to get off at Belize, but the waves were so rough that we couldn’t. At Belize, you have to port a little ways away from the shore, therefore, when you get off you have to ride small tenders to the shore and when you come back, you have to ride them as well. This is why we couldn’t get off because the waves were too rough for the tenders to ride across

As I jumped out of the car ready to start the new vacation I was amazed by the vast size of the ship and all I would do this week. The Ocean Spray hit me as we entered the dock. I could not believe I was finally here after what felt like years of waiting for this trip. The ship was a huge Carnival and it had a slide on the top it was a shade of bright red and made me think of a water park in the midst of summer and walking towards the ship I could not stop looking at it. The slide was peaked on the top of the cruise and was the highest point except of course for the funnel.…

Genuine Happiness While preparing for the trip to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, I coud not fathom being in a relaxing atmosphere. I could not wait to get away from the stress and every day things going on in my life. Being emotionally distraught by events taking place in my life such as my relationship of 5 years ending, grandpa passing away, and mom being in and out of the hospital from a previous surgery gone wrong, took a toll on me. Saddened by that all, I was physically exhausted from my daily routine of school, work, teaching kids in church, and babysitting every day. The thought of being on an island in Mexico, relaxing in the white sand and clear water was so moving for me.…

When we got to the cruise there was only one other party on there and it was small so we had the whole boat to our self. The boat had like a rope that you could sit on that was tied to the boat right underneath it was the ocean. We went to a bay area with reefs, coral and sea creatures. We went snorkeling and my brother had to hold me up because every time a wave came the water would run right over my snorkel tube and I would swallow a whole bunch of sea water.…

From smelling the salty waters by the Florida Keys, seeing all of the green from the stems of green beans growing, the flavor of the freshest eggs you could get from the coop in the backyard, to the avocado tree growing in the backyard, my trip to Florida had become one of the greatest life experiences I’ve had yet. Visiting Florida taught me many skills on being independent, mentally, and how easy and fun it is just to be to yourself sometimes. It all started Christmas eve when I got home to find my presents from “Santa” there before we even went to bed. My parents had planned on taking a vacation to Florida for Christmas break to see my grandparents, but we were unable to also get my parents there.…
