Personal Narrative: My Trip To Peter Pande Lake

This morning after breakfast the leaders announced that Will, Laudi and Alana were to start hiking out to our next camping spot by Fish Creek. They also told us that Cole and Aziah were the leaders of the day. Once Will and Laudi had left, we set off on our day hike to Peter Pande Lake. The lake was stunning, and It had a nice sandy beach to accompany its gorgeous scenic view. Sadly no one went in because it was so cold. Right as we were leaving, the sun started to come out. The leaders didn’t let us stay longer so we continued to hike.
We raced to the top of a mountain to see Peter Pande and Olive lake on the other side. It was a 360 view of all the mountain range. If you looked down you saw the whole area of both lakes. My favorite

Everyone felt rushed, which made it hard for the rest of us to enjoy our hike.
We did some crazy steep bouldering to get back on the trail. The rest of the hike back to camp was downhill and flat. It was nice having no pack throughout the whole day hike, but once we got to our last night’s campsite we had to pack everything.
It was time to go meet up with all the injured people at our new campsite. The hike there was painful on my knees because of how steep it was. Everyone was trying to go as fast as they could, but our bodies were exhausted from the four mile morning hike. Once we had arrived at our new location, we had to take our shoes off to cross the creek. It felt amazing and It helped get rid of the horrible stench coming from my feet. We saw Laudi and Will which was nice because the group had already felt different when they were gone. It was definitely a lot more quieter not having Will around. Laudi’s foot appeared to have gotten worse, which didn’t worry the leaders too much since they were in contact with a doctor. Later that night as we all gathered around the campfire Whitney told us that Laudi was going to be evacuated the next morning at five a.m. Alana and here we're going to hike eleven miles and drive straight to the emergency room before the infection spread even more. It was sad to lose my tent mate, but I knew I would see her in a few days and i asked

My family consists of my parents, older brother Patrick ( now a sophomore at Madison), younger brother Declan ( now a sophomore at MUHS), and my younger sister Nora ( now in 8th grade). We were all there for this trip just younger. On our trip one of the main attractions we stopped at for a few days was at the Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole Wyoming. Bark Lake Night Hike One night as I was strolling back home from a nearby convenience store, I gazed at the full moon and I remembered my first night hike in Bark Lake. It was an exhilarating experience. One Monday night, the full moon was shining brightly as our Grade 7 class embarked on a night hike. All was silent except the slight murmuring of the voices of my classmates.…

In the middle of lake superior, there is an idyllic island, 45 miles long and 9 miles wide. It has untouched lakes, thousands of moose, and a dwindling population of wolves. I have been there 2 times, and both times it was an experience I will never forget. This is Isle Royale, the least visited national park in the contiguous US, and the largest island in lake superior. I have hiked over 100 miles on the island, but there are 12 that stand out as the most physically challenging day of my life.…

We did not know it at the time, but this hike into Onion Valley is the toughest single climb in the Sierra! As related to me, since I was called away, by our leader and Tim. Among other things it included three mountain passes, Kearsarge pass at 11, 823 feet, Glen Pass 11,978 feet, and Baxter Pass 12,300 feet. And a loop backpacking trail of almost thirty miles. (See our leader’s trail map.)…

My previous camping trips I have taken in the past years have been memorable and full of hardship. I consider myself a very outgoing and adventurous person, that is why I go on crazy trips. Canoeing is my preferred way of traveling when touring lakes and rivers such as the Boundary waters and the Flambeau river. Major disadvantage of canoes is that they weigh up to 85 pounds. The weight matters being when crossing land to get to the next lake the canoe goes on your shoulders to carry it.…

It was a definite change of scenery to be immersed in nature with lush greenery, crisp air, and ocean views instead of the normal classroom scene. I liked that this experience was a chance to interact with my colleagues and learn who they are on a personal level subsequent to grading their three-minute stories the previous Fridays. From this hiking experience, I learned the value of teamwork, effective communication, and what encompasses wholesome leadership as well as what can transpire when there is no leadership. As like all experiences, there are some parts I cherished and others not as much.…
