Decent Essays
Today, I went with one Care Manager to North Bergen to visit one of her clients. This visit was interesting because it was an initial meeting. An initial meeting is a first meeting between the client and Care Manager; therefore, the Care Manager explains the services that Hudson CMO offer and how they will help the family with their need. After, the initial meeting, I went with the Care Manager to visit one more of her clients in Jersey City. This meeting was exciting because I got to meet a therapist and a behavioral analyst.

Today’s goal was to introduce me to the site, the people that work in my department, the resources available to workers, and current projects. My volunteer supervisor, Geraldine Baptist, showed me around the hospital, specifically where I would normally sign in and sign out, the cafeteria, and the Occupational/Physical therapy outpatient department. Upon arrival at the OT/PT department, Ms. Baptist introduced me to the front desk secretary, Mauracell, a sweet, openhearted young lady. Mauracell warm welcoming made me extremely comfortable, and all anxiety was put to ease. Mauracell showed me around the office and work center, then introduced me to each person present and gave me a description of what types of things they work on.…

I remember when I use to live in Newfoundland, it was so different for me since I was born and raised in Brampton Ontario, and there was no multi culture on this island. When I first moved there I remember people would stare at me and look at me differently because of my skin color they would automatically assume I wasn’t from Canada or not Canadian because I wasn’t “white”. They wouldn’t consider me as a “Canadian” as well as a “Newfie” because I didn’t have the “Canadian” accent. Another reason was because I wasn’t big on hockey or watched the games they would be so confused and offended because I didn’t have much knowledge on the hockey teams. Remembering all of this again the reason being for many of them not considering me as a “Canadian”…

Many people will say “Brooklyn, only the strong survive” and I have lived by that phrase my entire life. It showed me the beauty of living in one of the boroughs that makes up New York City and has taught me to be a strong person. It’s not made for the weak.…

My first taste of Auschwitz began in the snow. While walking in with My umbrella, receiving the cold, icy breathe of the wind through my millions of layers, hearing nothing but the sound of my boots walking on the stones beneath my feet and seeing hundreds of buildings made of brick aligned in perfectly symmetrical blocks, with muddy, stoned pathways separating them, surrounded by double barbed wire and a wooden watchtower on every side. Once arriving at the Warsaw Chopin Airport, my nerves finally took its path; I felt my heart beating faster and my legs beginning to shake. I was about to experience the atrocities of a city with my own eyes, and I had no idea if I was able to handle it.…
