Personal Narrative: My Trip To New Orleans

Decent Essays
Last year my church family and I went to New Orleans, slidell and did mission work. We worked on a Lady’s house that got destroyed after hurricane Isaac, she was very please with the work that we did. It was the effort and teamwork that got most of the work done even though it was hot and the sun was out all day it was no complaining and sitting down we worked until we couldn’t work anymore. We spent a week there monday through sunday working on the house for her it was hot and stuffy so they made us drink a lot of water and stay hydrated it was a great experence. One of the days we went to and they gave us a tour and gave us information about what happened after hurrican Issic and then we walked around and shopped it was a splendid day

It was a Thursday afternoon, everyone in the Houston area and the surrounding city´s were getting prepared for Hurricane Harvey. I watched the news as the Hurricane approached us. I was concerned if we were going to go to school, the upcoming day I wanted school to be canceled so bad, later on during the day I was ready to lay down in my bed after a long day at school. I received a message as i swiped down my phone and viewed the text as a message from Conroe ISD stating “No School Tomorrow, Friday” I was so hyped up knowing that I didn't have to attend school the following day. Friday morning, nothing really happened I didn't really know why they canceled school as absolutely nothing happened that whole day.…

Divine Trust Trusting in a divinity isn’t as easy or straightforward as it sounds. I can most definitely attest to this. As a person raised in the Christian church I have not only have I lived this statement, but over the years I’ve seen it in the lives of various friends in my youth group. I continue to see this struggle to trust throughout the plot of “The Odyssey” by Homer. The protagonist Odysseus, his son Telemachus, and Odysseus’ ship’s crew all are prime examples.…

My first mission trip was for an organization called 1Nation1Day through my church, Milestone, back home in 2013. The goal was to save the nation of Honduras in one day and continue to pour out love and support to the Hondurans so that they may be disciples for a lifetime. To prepare for the mission we spent the majority of the year 2012 fundraising to provide clothes, shoes, and meals for the Hondurans and were grateful enough to raise $250,000.00. Applications for the mission trip were sent out and anyone could go as long as they could pay for the trip, which cost $3275.00. While fundraising for Honduras I was also working at Subway as well as fundraising for my self through care packages that would be sent to the people of Honduras.…

Over the summer break, my family and I went to San Antonio, Texas. I remember the first day there, I had greeted my family there and talked about everything that had happened since we last saw each others. We had decided to the Guadalupe river, the water was frigid cold and awfully deep. I recall standing up on my two own feet and the water had passed my body. The next day, I had to practice for my cousin’s sweet sixteen, I was in her code of honor and I had to remember all the steps before her party.…

My trip from Kinshasa to Dallas/Fort-worth for higher education purposes Do you know that the important thing in the life? It is not what the instructors taught us, but it’s what we make day by day for ourselves using what the instructors gave us and to make sure that we are useful for ourselves and our community. In July 2014, I graduated as the top student of my class and among the top 10 students of my city. I had my high school degree in science, and specifically in Biochemistry.…
