Personal Narrative: My Trip To Natter-Bee

Improved Essays
The warmness of the afternoon mixed with the cool breeze blowing lightly tickled my nose as I swung in a white crochet hammock. I could hear the faint sound of the lapping of the lake on the rocky shore. Bugs chirped to say goodbye to summer and the sun cast across the water making it glimmer. I looked across the water to cherry island which I longed to visit but my mom and dad told me no because it was private. I saw the old boat "patches" resting on the grass near the shore drying. My blond hair was cut to my shoulders and it shone in the auburn sun. I walked up the wooden steps and through the sliding glass doors and my feet walked across the scratchy grey carpet.
"What are you up to Natter-bee?" My dad said when he heard my soft footsteps.

EN 281 Setting and characterization It was about 6 a.m. Saturday morning and it is an extremely beautiful morning; one of the mornings that makes you stop and realize just how amazing it is at that particular moment in the world. Everything from how nice the summer breeze felt on a freshly shaved face, how the cool water felt as it ran between the toes and bottom of your foot, the smell of fresh cut grass in air, the sounds, or lack of sound, that summer brings in when it is perfect outside. It is very quiet, the only sounds you can hear are the occasional birds chirping as they flew by, an occasional car driving by on the road behind you, a fish that surfaces time from time, the gentle sound of the water as the current brings it in and out,…

Mojos As I went to Mojos I choose to sit outside on the deck for a little while. The deck had three black, steel tables on it with four chairs at each table— which probably was not a smart idea to sit on since it was absolutely hot outside. It was a cold summer night and I could see the sun setting over the lake as I was arranging the lawn chairs around the campfire. I tried to dodge the clouds of gnats as I was running back and forth getting all the cards, snacks, and music ready. Just as I finished I saw the thirty teenagers walking up the long path to the camp directors house ready to participate in an evening activity I planned for them. I watched the girls race to get seats on the lawn chairs and helped the others find seats so they didn’t have to sit on the wet grass. The girls were laughing and having fun…

The Barn The sun is just starting to peek over the horizon, casting soft rays of light over the Earth and turning this usually chaos filled place, into a calm haven. Here I can clear my mind and enjoy simply being and breathing. This is an opportunity never able to be seized once the afternoon rush of people start trickling in. There is not a cloud in the sky and a cool breeze rustles the leaves of the trees. I make my way towards the barn to see my horse before I head off to school.…

A loud pop echoed across the ground. A strong pain shot through my leg and extended all throughout my body, leaving me to collapse on the hard ground and scream for all it was worth.. It was a beautiful evening with a tint of a salmon color against a perfectly cloudless, blue sky. It was about 6:30 in the evening, and me, my friend Kaden, my brother Cole, my mom, and my dad were going to my school to play on the ninja course they had set up instead of a walk-a-thon.…

Lost in Paradise It was green and bright, the sunlight beating down from a clear sky. There was a lake not too far from where I laid stretched out on the grass, filled with silver fish and water so clear you could see the bottom. A tree, large and old and spindly, stood just off to my left, its branches waving with the breeze. Like an ancient guardian, its shadow protected me from the glare of the sun. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”…

Reconciliation Interrupted by the faint sounds of birds chirping and grass swaying in the gentle breeze, the calming silence became a distant memory. As the birds flapped their wings, moving at the edge of the tiny meadow, from one tree to the next, they cast their shadows over the body of a small brown skinned, black haired girl. She lay on her back in the hilltop grass, facing directly up towards the almost blinding light of the afternoon sun. Her dark skin, holding a lively warm glow, reflected the rays of sunlight off of her quickly flickering eyelids. Suddenly, they were open, revealing her dark brown almond shaped eyes and her ever so slightly off white sclera.…
