Personal Narrative: My Trip To Louisiana

Improved Essays
L is for Louisiana One summer when I was 3 or so I got to go to Louisiana. My dad had a great-uncle that lived down there with his wife and their 2 dogs. The great-uncle was a pilot in World War ll. He was even there on D-Day as one of the pilots! Anyways I was little and super excited that I was finally getting to meet Uncle Dick and Aunt Nell. I had gotten to talk to them on the phone a couple of times, but I was normally too shy to talk to them or say anything but hi and bye. But the trip came with a but. We were going to Moss Point, Mississippi to help people who lost their homes after hurricane Katrina, then we were going to go to Uncle Dick’s and Aunt Nell’s house for 1 night, then we were going to go to one of my relatives houses in Missouri, and then finally we were going home. But what they didn’t tell me is that we were going to be doing all of this during Easter and my birthday. At first I was happy because we were going on a road trip, but then I was angry because I wouldn’t even be spending my own birthday in my own home, but on an air mattress on the cold hard floor. Then after some time I realized I will be getting more presents this way, I can get some from my relatives in Missouri, some in Louisiana from those relatives, and some from my actual family. …show more content…
Once we got to their house it was in the later hours of the evening. So we didn’t really get to do much with them except chat for a little bit and then go to bed. So Aunt Nell gave my sister and I milk in a glass some cookies. Then, we sat down on the couch while Uncle Dick read Green Eggs and Ham by: Dr. Seuss. After that, all of us kids watched Scooby Doo.

For two weeks, I stayed in Charleston, South Carolina. I didn’t know much about the place, except that I referred to it as an army town because that’s where my sister and her husband, who was in the military, stayed. I was reluctant to go, but Charleston had a lot to offer me; a new change of pace and some new scenery was much more satisfying than spending the two weeks stuck in Iowa doing the same old routine. The weather was mystical in Charleston.…

The five hours drive in Pensacola was the longest five hours drive in all the traveling I’ve done. When my dad was driving to Pensacola I felt nervous doing to much thinking but my dad gave me encouragement saying just do me. My games in Pensacola were bad to me because I didn’t have any points, I think I’m the only one on my team who had zero points the whole weekend. I barely had any playing time even when I did a good job on both ends of the court. Most people say it’s not all about points but it is about points because how can you win with zero points it’s impossible.…

All my life I had heard about a great monsters who used to roam The Great Plains in Texas, but none of the stories matched the monster I had found. My mother was a carefree and spirited woman who let me roam the flat land, not troubled by the hideous monster myths.…

When I was little, before my parents were divorced, my parents, my two brothers, and I would go visit my family in La Grande. It was a very small town that my dad grew up in. We would stay in my great grandma’s house. The house was old yet amazing and even now I can remember every little detail about it. Outside it had many great climbing trees with faces, a giant garden that we would always harvest carrots and cucumbers from, and an old, damaged, red barn that I would always tell people had horses in it when really it was just full of gardening tools and christmas lights.…
