I haven’t told anyone this before, but I’m going to tell you now that I plan to take a trip next year to my hometown Las Vegas, Nevada. Most likely I will be going in autumn, when the days are warm and the nights are cool. I been there most of my life, I have many great memories. My childhood was amazing although, I hit a few bumps in the road. As far as being disobedient, though I do not regret the choice I made to have my daughter. A teenage pregnancy, I persevered and graduated from Desert Oasis HS; while working at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The motivation that kept me going through that rough time was a wise man; as he walked into my job to grab a healthy shake “Keep your head

    1. I grew up in San Francisco in an area where the majority of residents had lives there for generations. In my building all of my neighbors were older than my parents and a few were even older than my grandparents. Mrs. Garcia was a woman who lived in the apartment under us. She was in her 90s and had lost most of her hearing by the time I was eight…

Sit back, buckle up, and get ready to scream because I love roller coasters. My family and I go to Cedar Point about every month in the summer, and my dad and I go and ride everything in the park. It is just so fun! The one thing I really like about roller coasters is that there are little rides for the youth kids also. My least favorite thing is when I am not tall enough to enjoy a ride, which doesn’t really occur anymore.…

Every morning, I make a cup of café con leche and tune into channel 5’s jingle of Matt Goss’ “Lovely Las Vegas” at 5 am before I get ready to make my way Downtown — a modern piece of the desert amidst the heart of the valley. As I look up at the street after struggling to untangle my headphones on my way to the bus top, I encounter new faces and wonder where they are going. My destination is seeing the sunrise appear with the silhouette of the Stratosphere Casino on one side of the field and the Downtown skyline on the other as the bus drops me off on 7th Street to complete my long morning routine – only to repeat the same journey the next day. There are days in which I would like to skip out on my morning walks to catch up on a couple minutes…

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

When I was younger, my parents often took my brother, Caleb, and me on many trips. We went on a variety of vacations, but one of my favorite places to go was Colorado. I loved cold climates, cloudy places, and in Colorado I can find these and more. My favorite types of climates are freezing temperatures, cloudy, and rainy. In 2007 my dad had bought two four-wheelers, and the people knew my dad well and when we bought them, they told us they were going to Ouray, Colorado and asked if we wanted to join them.…

In January of last year I went on a trip to Colorado on a "college visit" with a friend and my father to University of Colorado Boulder. We left Wednesday night, skipping school both Thursday and Friday. We did go to the college and took a tour of the campus on Thursday which I greatly enjoyed, it is beautiful out there and at elevation there is very little humidity. The true intention of the trip, as important as the college visit was, was to go to Breckenridge Resort and spend the weekend snowboarding. A couple of my dad's friends were also going and we were going to share their timeshare.…

As a lazy river crawls through the grass and reeds of the plains knowing it will dry up and end soon, and trying to extend the trip just a little further, to last a little longer, we take our time meandering slowly back through the casino. We enter the parking garage and notice the night has turned from hot and stuffy to a pleasant cool breeze. I lead him towards my car, the conversation winds down, and we begin to say our goodbyes. He opens my car door and leans towards me, kissing my lips softly; my…

The corner of Broad and Sansom will always have a special place in my heart. In my travels around the city of Philadelphia, it is one of the few places that can smack me in the face with déjà vu. Whenever I walk by and look up at the windows above I still see the “David Wright shot a 72 on Wednesday” sign (this became a battle cry for me whenever the Phillies played the Mets, regardless of whether or not Wright was in the lineup). That was the prime location I was able to snag on October 31, 2008, bright and early at 8:34 a.m. There was an electricity in the air; the championship drought was finally broken and the streets were flooded with red.…

They were visiting Los Angeles and decided to hire a car to drive to Palm Springs and Las Vegas, and then back to Los Angeles. The conversation was terrific, and they both thought I had a fabulous attitude. They have a very relaxed, non-judgemental, and open-minded outlook that I expect from the French and German people, which put me at ease. I would have enjoyed spending more time talking with them, but it was now 11PM, and I had to leave soon due to my early start at work the following day. I informed them that I'm spending Thursday and Friday in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving in case they're back there by then, so we exchanged contact details.…

In this photograph, a young boy wearing a bubbly bright blue shirt shamelessly flashes a rather tooth lacking smile for the camera. His arms and legs are crossed while he sits on a tiled bench under an ominous and cloud speckled sky. Behind this young boy rests a little girl wearing a tomato red complexion. She is adorned with a shiny silver necklace and a shirt that literally screamed summer. Under her resting hand laid cold tiles that would leave an imprint of the frigid shapes that pressed against her soft skin.…

My trip to Las Vegas was the best that I have ever experienced. I was so excited to go and visit the city that is known to “never sleep”. Las Vegas offers so much to so many people and I was so happy to see what it offered. I couldn't wait to see all the bright lights from the famous street above in the airplane, hear all the noise from the people walking at all hours of the day and night, and lastly I was so happy to be all the way across the country in a state that was so hot! Flying into Las Vegas was so exciting to me!…
