Personal Narrative: My Trip To Kansas For Thanksgiving Break

Decent Essays
Hey Morg,
I just wanted to let you know that even though we don't talk as much as we used to that I still consider you one of my best friends. I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip to Sweden and I look forward to hearing more stories in the weeks to come. Additionally, I'm elated and I'm counting down the days until I visit Kansas for Thanksgiving break. I think once I visit things will pick-up back to normal. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer vacation. I don't know what else to say. Dubai.

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

Wyoming, Illinois is a representation of a small farming community. It sits among acres of old, history filled corn, wheat and bean fields about thirty minutes from the “big” city. My first childhood home sat on a corner. The old home used to belong to my great grandparents, but was currently occupied by my mom, sister and two cats. I looked over to my mom, “Can I go to the grocery store?”…

I went to Texas and New Mexico in 2014's summer with my family to visit my brother who lives in Texas, and to have vacations too. We also visited some places like the Cowboys Stadium, Wet N' Wild Waterworld, the Museum of Space History, and White Sands National Monument.…

My family and I were on a road trip to Sandusky Ohio. That’s where the capital amusement park in the United States is at. The road trip took us 12 hours from Sioux City to Ohio but it was all worth it. The world’s fastest rollercoaster was there, it shot up to 140 feet up in the air and took off about 80 miles per hour. So once we got there we checked in the hotel that was connected to the amusement park.…

We began the journey to Colorado in a hot, unairconditioned car. My shirt was sticking to my back and there was literally steam coming out of my ears because my blood was boiling with fury and anger. Out of all the days in life, I needed some peace, and thanks to God, I experienced it at the end of a long drive and a hike up the mountain with my cousins and siblings. The peace I experienced on top of the mountain was like no other.…

The anticipation for Thanksgiving break is over the top. The thought of home cooked meals, family, and no professors talking a student 's ear off for a week are heavenly. Of course all the classic thanksgiving things happen but there are also psychological things that go on. (Darn that psychology sneaking its way into everything, it obviously never goes on break.) Although psychology is used every minute of every day i 'm only going to talk about 5 concepts, persuasion, cognition, emotion, personality, and the self.…

Everybody has that special place that holds so much meaning to them that just about nobody would ever understand. My place is one specific house in Nebraska. This place isn’t only special to me, but it defines who I am. Before I realized I loved this place and did not take life so seriously, I needed to persevere through a place I hated. Then after moving away from this place I had to accept that nothing is permanent.…

From smelling the salty waters by the Florida Keys, seeing all of the green from the stems of green beans growing, the flavor of the freshest eggs you could get from the coop in the backyard, to the avocado tree growing in the backyard, my trip to Florida had become one of the greatest life experiences I’ve had yet. Visiting Florida taught me many skills on being independent, mentally, and how easy and fun it is just to be to yourself sometimes. It all started Christmas eve when I got home to find my presents from “Santa” there before we even went to bed. My parents had planned on taking a vacation to Florida for Christmas break to see my grandparents, but we were unable to also get my parents there.…
