Parker won’t watch her, he’s too busy with Rachel to watch his own daughter…” whispered my mother in her iPhone. I began to walk around the house to begin packing for a trip that I did not even want to go on. It took me about 3 hours to pack …show more content…

Why would my father be here? Is he here to break my heart again? “Don’t talk to your father like that! He drove all the way here for you, be more appreciative,” my mom hastily

Pages 305-307 → Film The day was fading into a soft sun-shot haze, pricked here and there by a yellow electric light, and passers were rare in the little square into which they had turned. Dallas stopped again, and looked up. "It must be here," he said, slipping his arm through his father 's with a movement from which Archer 's shyness did not shrink; and they stood together looking up at the house. It was a modern building, without distinctive character, but many-windowed, and pleasantly balconied up its wide cream-coloured front. On one of the upper balconies, which hung well above the rounded tops of the horse-chestnuts in the square, the awnings were still lowered, as though the sun had just left it.…

She regaled the crowd, all fourteen of them, by finishing the meeting with her version of the new hit by Webb Pierce, You’re Not Mine Anymore. Lelia didn’t know all the words, let alone the chords, but she didn’t care: She knew enough to fashion it in a fun style, and as always, finished the song with a performance of all the best chords she knew. As she finished the song with her flurry of chords, Pearly chuckled to Clarence, “Lelia might not know the entire song that good, but she sure knows how to finish ‘em!”…

'Where's Tyson?' was a question I caught myself asking every morning before school. My mom would let our little dog out to play, and on most days before you knew it we were outside looking for him. But, on this Wednesday morning something was off... my mom looked a bit more worried, my dad seemed nowhere to be found, and our other dog, Maizie, was already inside. This confused my fourth grade mind as I always knew Tyson and Maizie worked as a team, and when one came back inside, the other followed.…

We were all crowded around the rectangular wooden table, in our musty smelling cabin, Grand Marais, Michigan. My mom- smiling her famous, beautiful white smile; my sister, Bonita-on her tiptoes attempting to be the same height as the rest of us; Taylor- my sister’s blue eyed best friend; my best friend- Ally giggling like usual, and finally me- wearing the same shirt I’d been wearing for the past few days gathered together like a group of “penguins” waiting to be fed their afternoon meal. We were all squeezing together holding mismatched cups up in the air, ready to make a toast to the night that was to come. “Here’s to our last night on Lake Superior, our last night without wifi, and our last night of uneasy, bug-filled sleep…” My mom…
