Personal Narrative: My Trip To Indiana Beach

I was sinking down, down, and down, for every heart beat I take, I am still alive. Is that what it feels like when you are about to drown?

It all started back to a gorgeous hot summer in Indiana. When my mom and my dad had decided to give me and my sister a little surprise. We don't go on vacations a lot because of my parents "job". So when my parents announce that we are going to Indiana Beach. I thought it was a miracle. I jumped, shouted, ran to hug my parents, doing whatever a excited girl could possibly do."Where are we going!" I had asked, my voice way too high, and full of too much excitement.

"Not telling, little dolphin," my mom had joked with a mysterious smile on her face.

To the Indiana Beach!

"Really! Yeah!" I cheered with my sister.

"Aw Jerry!" my mom said.

"Oops,to late, my bad!" said my dad. Then we all laughed.

It was a long drive to Indiana Beach, I thought I might explode with eagerness. We finally arrived during the hottest part of the day, so we decided to rent a boat, and go for a swim. I had always loved the water (even though I don't really know how to swim). Even as a baby, my mother told me that I used to splash water everywhere, making her clean up afterward. I would laugh at that.

The water of Indiana Beach gleams under the sun as we arrived on the boat that we had rented. The boat was enormous, with a towable tube in the back. I was excited, I can't wait to try the towable tube. We rode around to get used to the boat.

Then my dad asked, "who wants to try the towable tube?"

"Me!" my sister shouted.

"Be careful, and remember to keep your balance," said my

"Okay," I said. I will try. I got on the towable tube, and my dad started to drive. The water and air exploded into my face as I shouted faster, faster. It was so fun until someone shouted, "stop!" then I lost my balance and plunged into the water. I realized that the "stop!" have come from me. I also realized that I was drowning, I was sinking deeper down into the water. I was in a panic attack, I can't think of what to do. All I can think of at that moment is that I am going to die, I am going to die. I can see fishes swimming around me. I so wish I were them at that moment. I kept struggling, scaring the fishes away. Then I hear voices, they sound like they were from outer space, but as I listen more carefully I can hear, so.....yur.....jacket! Suddenly, as fast as lighting, I remember my life jacket, and I let it bring me back to

The weather was nasty, and there was a rip current. That is waves curve into each other. They were all swimming together and the current started dragging them under water and further back. Her mom did not know what to do. She was obviously freaking out because her kids on were on the verge of being killed by the ocean. Her parents ran out into the ocean and tried their best to safe the children. The waves started pulling them under as well, It was getting harder and harder to bring them to the shore. All of their feet were getting stuck in the sand and falling like tumbleweed. After getting all beat up and bruised up, the kids got saved from the torture. When she told me that story I don't think i ever froze like that in my life. I had multiple dreams about that specific event happening to me. I woke up with the glowing sun shining in my face and I realized it was time. I had been waiting for this since the first time my sister asked me to go with her, about four months ago. My sister, our friends, and I piled up in the van and we took off. It was the beginning of our journey to Panama City Beach Florida. We were all ready for (hopefully) the best trip of our lives. We set out to experience an adventure even if it meant a long drive to our final destination.…

As I said “goodbye” to Johns Creek, I began venturing on a new journey. I would have slept on the long 8-hour expedition if not for the spectacular books that we had brought on the trip. As I grabbed the first book, it was like winning the best of the best. The book could keep someone busy for an entire 3 hours. The experience was as if the book was talking to me. I read the book for hours and hours, and I slept for the last hour. Little did I know that I would be having the days of my lifetime. The first day was excellent, as the gleaming sun fought against the clouds to keep the temperature high. The swimming pool was refreshing, and the water slides were freezing but thrilling. The very next day, hands stretching, mouth yawning, I woke up…

I get into position even though my hands and feet ached like they would fall off. I heard the faint noise of the boat engine turning on and started to tense up. I was ready but still in my mind I was telling myself Isabelle it is your ninth try give up already! Before I could get over the nagging feeling in my mind I felt the wind brush past my face reminding me of a dandelion drifting in the wind. The water lifted me up like I was a lite elegant feather drifting on the crystal clear lake. I was up in a second. All the frustration and tiredness breezed away in the wind. I became verklempt with joy, happiness, and thrill. I had never had thought something scary might have benefits of joy. The wakeboard glided on the water, every turn it followed every stumble it stumbled. Side tracked by my cloud of glory I forgot the main rule of wakeboarding: do not tense up! I started to wobble, first my legs and then my torso. The nose of the board suddenly dipped in the water. BAM! Before I knew it I had hit the water at high speed and wiped out. Still shocked by my wipe out I of course wanted to do it again. Getting into of the boat I could not stop babbling about what had just happen. It was an…

In the midst of being tossed from my vessel I had shut my eyes and plugged my nose, thinking that maybe, maybe if I could not sense my downfall that marked the transition between a life breathing in the atmosphere, to one of complete submersion, then it could not be real. Yet the responsiveness of my nerves betrayed me instantly as the cool sting of the water pierced my skin, enveloping my body in a freezing liquid. All of the defenses I had so carefully constructed had failed me. No longer did the nearly impenetrable walls of pure logic keep out emotion. Feeling diffused through my casing and chilled me to the very bone with a dampness that lingers long after the wetness has…

More shrieks rang from across the shimmering water. I stood knee deep for a while longing to be on one of those floats and then walked in up to my chest then my neck when the ground suddenly gave way. The dead Halloween colored water surrounded me on all sides but I felt no panic as I sank. I watched the surface of the water as it rose away and noticed the sunlight seemed from below to bend and crack. Underwater plants twisted up from the lake bottom. I’d never considered what might live below. A single fish darted above my head a quick silhouette between me and the light and then my feet touched sand and stone and I pushed off hard suddenly very much…

We finally had reached our destination Destin, Florida. My little brother is so excited to see the water, he runs through the screen door that goes out on our balcony. At first I was a little frightened by the endless amounts of blue water. The waves would come in huge and loud crashing onto the beach. The fisherman boats would be a small speak in a distant on their way out to catch fish. But once I got out there in the water I would gradually start to love the ocean. Each time I would get braver and go out further, as my mom sat on the beach and watch my brother and I closely. The farther out I would go the water would get this magnificent blue; for allowing you to see all types of beautiful sea shell with all sorts of colors in them, the tropical fish reminded me of the movie Finding Nemo, little pale pieces of sand dollars washed up in the waves on the banks. The sand resemble of…

It was a hot, humid Sunday in Anna Maria Florida. We were going to the beach with the 3 other families that went with us. It was about a five minute walk from our house we rented to the beach, which really felt like five hours because I was really excited. We took our clothes off because our swim suits were underneath and sprinted to the clear blue ocean.…
