Personal Narrative: My Trip To Florida

Improved Essays
As a child, my family was very enthusiastic about taking road trips over the summer. We travelled to several parts in Mexico and the United States in both car and airplane. Whether it was visiting family, going to theme parks, or simply enjoying the scenery, my family was never one to deny a road trip. Going on these trips enabled the formation of many memories that my family and I can cherish for a long time. A particular trip that is embedded in my memory is when we went to visit my uncle in Florida. Our experiences on this trip ranged from phenomenal to grievous events, but the combination of these experiences made our trip perfect. Spontaneity is my dad’s middle name. It was around dinnertime when we arrived so we joined our family to eat. My brother and I went with our cousins and while we were talking, they mentioned that we would be going to Disney World the next day. My stomach turned and I jumped so high out of the excitement that I felt when I heard those words. I thought about the other theme parks we had gone to and how fun they were, but I couldn’t even begin to imagine how amazing Disney World was going to be. The morning came, and my parents woke us up by telling us to get ready. Being under the impression that we would be walking a lot and it would be scorching hot I decided to wear jean shorts and a white T-shirt. After driving to our destination, I finally saw the huge, colorful “Disney World” sign and I could not contain my happiness. My cousin and I were the first ones in. As we were standing, waiting for the rest of my family to enter the park, I felt a drop of water land on my arm. I brushed it off and ignored it. We continued to wait and sooner rather than later, it started pouring. Everyone began to pull out rain ponchos and umbrellas as I ran to the nearest roof I could find. My shorts and shirt were completely drenched and my hair was dripping with water. Apparently it rains frequently and constantly in Orlando, Florida and someone somehow forgot to mention that to me. I disliked the weather so much because I felt like it was ruining my day at the theme

While up in Washington D.C, I had packed shorts, tank tops and typical warm weather clothing due to the fact it had been summer, and those are typically hot in Florida. Walking through the outside areas of Fair Fax County at night I had found that during the day it is almost 90 degrees during the day and low 60s in the night time. I was flabbergasted, how could it be this cold in the summer…

The five hours drive in Pensacola was the longest five hours drive in all the traveling I’ve done. When my dad was driving to Pensacola I felt nervous doing to much thinking but my dad gave me encouragement saying just do me. My games in Pensacola were bad to me because I didn’t have any points, I think I’m the only one on my team who had zero points the whole weekend. I barely had any playing time even when I did a good job on both ends of the court. Most people say it’s not all about points but it is about points because how can you win with zero points it’s impossible.…

What started my love of swimming was when I was at a tender age of three my parents took me to Florida, I observed other kids taking swimming lessons and I decided to start swimming right then and there. On top of that, part of my old school’s curriculum was to have swimming once or twice a week. One of the many reasons why my parents and I moved to Florida was because of my love of swimming. Even though I started school with an exorbitant amount of homework, my parents and I swam at an olympic size pool religiously every Sunday.…

It was a bright summer morning in Big Cypress, Florida. The green palm trees were swaying and the bright blue rivers were peaceful. The long and large alligators were swimming. From smelling the salty waters by the Florida Keys, seeing all of the green from the stems of green beans growing, the flavor of the freshest eggs you could get from the coop in the backyard, to the avocado tree growing in the backyard, my trip to Florida had become one of the greatest life experiences I’ve had yet. Visiting Florida taught me many skills on being independent, mentally, and how easy and fun it is just to be to yourself sometimes. It all started Christmas eve when I got home to find my presents from “Santa” there before we even went to bed. My parents had planned on taking a vacation to Florida for Christmas break to see my grandparents, but we were unable to also get my parents there.…
