Personal Narrative: My Trip To Cyprus

Decent Essays
I chose to create the boat because it reminds me of my childhood when I went to Syria for vacation. This was in 2005 and I was about 5 years old, this memory will never sneak out of my head. It reminds me of when I had crossed the ocean to get to Cyprus, a small island, it had taken about three and a half hours to get to my final destination. On my journey to Cyprus i had seen some great stuff such as, whales and dolphins. The dolphins were so playful that they were always near us and singing. After staying two days in Cyprus i went to Turkey to visit my aunt. In Turkey i saw the Blue Mosque, where i prayed. After a week or so, we went back to Syria and home in the US. All in all later in my lifetime i want to have this journey

Three years later we were abandoned by my fleeing father to fend for ourselves in a small and rural community. Growing up on the small Caribbean island of St. Lucia, my mother struggled for many years to support her small family. Four years ago, we made our way to Florida, along with my younger sister, where we resided with friends. Although I graduated high school in St. Lucia, my mother did not have the finances to aid with my college expenses, thus she insisted that I again attend high school to provide her with ample time to obtain some form of income.…

Why are boats interesting to me? I have been boating for as long as I can remember. Kayaking was and still is something that brings my family together. In 2012, I was fortunate enough to go to Honolulu, Hawaii. I went the beach and ate pineapple ice cream, but the coolest part of our trip was visiting Pearl Harbor.…

The thing about running is that you hate it until it’s over, at least for me that’s true. Personally, I like running, and it gives me a chance to get out and work towards something. All throughout high school, I’ve run track, and for two years I ran cross-country, both are great sports. The two years I ran cross-country made me wish I ran all four years. If you’re part of more than one sport, it’s natural to choose a favorite.…

Working on the Greek mask project was difficult because I wasn't sure how to begin and due to my lack of artistic talent. I was able to overcome my initial difficulties by looking at masks on Pinterest for inspiration. After, looking around I opted to go with the classic Greek "tragedy" mask and just add my own flare to it. The materials I used to create my mask were cardboard, paper, makeup, and leaves. To begin my creation I took a piece of cardboard and cut out the shape of a mask and two large eyes using a knife.…

When vacationing in Peru I was unable to use most of my technology I had. However, it allowed me to enjoy it more without the distractions. I was able to bond more with the people there and had a great time. Every year I volunteer at a camp for 3 weeks where no technology is allowed and it did not affect my attitude and did not take away any enjoyment of being at camp. I can adapt to different settings very easily mostly because I don't have much preference to temperature or foods so most people describe me as someone who is very easy going and willing to try new things easily.…

Andrew Just last year, Dylan and I traveled to Haiti on a missions trip. As you may know, it's one of the poorest countries in the world. When we were beginning our descent on the airplane, I thought about how little roads and how poor the housing was. We drove through chaotic roads and rubble filled alleys, until we reached the orphanage. New Life Children’s Home is a safe haven for kids who lived in the mountains a couple miles north.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…
