Personal Narrative: My Trip To Cumberland County

Decent Essays
Ok so I'm doing something special called Cumberland County, Camden County, Salem County, Gloucester County's Miracle. I experienced Christmas in two ways. As a kid it was a great experience when my family was together. The other part of that experience was a struggle. Watching my mom provide for 5 kids on her own was tough. When that happened I watched people bless my family. I appreciate those who planted a seed! NOW......I NEED FOR NOTHING I am blessed. Soooooo it's my turn. This is how I will do it. Send me a letter in my inbox of a family in need. Tell me their story (What they need, how they have tried to get what they need, why they are in this place ( trust me I won't judge we all made mistakes or have circumstances that are difficult,

“I can't wait until I get to leave for my vacation tonight!” I exclaimed. It was the summer of 2014 and I was counting down the hours until I left on my Cooperstown vacation. I was going to visit New Jersey, New York City, and Pittsburgh on my way to Cooperstown. My parents couldn’t get me to Pittsburgh, so, I went with one of my teammates.…

Benevolence It is Christmas morning, so you wake up and your is heart pumping with excitement to look under the Christmas tree for your presents. When you arrive your heart fills with much despair because you find nothing there. Unfortunately, this happens to kids all around the world, some of these kids may go to your school. Consequently, every year, as a tradition my grandmother gathers up all of her grandkids and we volunteer at the Salvation Army Intake Center encompassed with her church. At eight a.m. sharp we get out of the car to have the brisk air slap us in the face, we halfway jog and halfway run into the place, we meet hundreds of boxes as soon as we open the door.…

Throughout the course of my short seventeen years, I have grown and learned many things. I grew up in a small rural town called Elk Creek. There are no strangers in Elk Creek; people sleep with their doors unlocked and their windows open. Everyone who has grown up in a small town can agree that friendship and community become a second nature trait. Although I have copious amounts of love and respect for where I grew up; I believe that I do not belong there.…

When I went on a mission trip in Florida three years ago we helped at a local soup kitchen. It was amazing to see just how many people showed up. Most of these people didn’t even come alone, they had children, brothers, sisters, even good friends who were just stuck and needed help. I sat and talked with some of the people, they told…

For two weeks, I stayed in Charleston, South Carolina. I didn’t know much about the place, except that I referred to it as an army town because that’s where my sister and her husband, who was in the military, stayed. I was reluctant to go, but Charleston had a lot to offer me; a new change of pace and some new scenery was much more satisfying than spending the two weeks stuck in Iowa doing the same old routine. The weather was mystical in Charleston.…

The Great Smoky Mountains I had never smelt the mountains before. When I was planning my trip everyone who had been there before said, “Oh, that smell! You’ll never forget it!”. I always knew it would be an unforgettable trip I just never thought I would crave the mountains afterwards. I can still feel the cool, crisp air that I inhaled when I walked to the porch to watch the sunrise.…

Oklahoma trip This last week was Labor Day weekend my family took a trip to Oklahoma. We were going to Shattuck Oklahoma which is 4 and a half hour a way to see my aunt and uncle and cousins. On the way there it was so boring and long that I just texted some friends and slept. Then my mom told us to wake up because we were almost there.…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

Since i was 6 years old i have had two lives. One is confined to the months of june through august, the months of fireflies and bikinis. I live my summer life as a free spirit on lake Winnipesaukee NH. I wake up at 5 am, watch the sunrise, drink green tea, venture through the mountains of New Hampshire, dance in the rain, and spend days painting at the end of the dock. I swim in the lake with my siblings until our shoulders burn and eat melting ice cream cones until our stomachs hurt, loving every minute.…

Almost two years ago, in the middle of my sophomore year of high school, I packed up everything and moved from a small town in Georgia to a much larger town in Michigan. I had lived in Georgia for my entire life, and I knew just about everything in Michigan would be different: the accents, the weather, the population of my town, the list goes on. Despite this, I was open to leaving my home state behind. Both of my parents obtained better jobs, and we would be just a few short hours from family that I typically only saw once a year. When I started school in Michigan, I had to adjust to a new schedule and meeting new people.…

Being someone who has lived in Goldsboro my whole life, I've watched it. Through it's up and down, but mostly through its growth. By attempts and success to rebuild downtown to a hotspot everyone loves to visit and explore for example. I have grown to call it my home and be proud to say it. Much of my experience through downtown is through my mother.…

Growing up in Maine had so many advantages from the beautiful scenery to the unique qualities Mainers have. I can't say that I'm not blessed to have grown up in such a beautifully scenic place, but I can't say it's been easy. I'm originally from land-locked Indiana. I moved to Maine when I was younger with my parents and brother and as much as I love being from a different place it's been hard growing up without a close family in a state so closely tied together with their families. Growing up in Maine, especially Mid-Coast Maine, you know that all of the surrounding families have lived there for generations, everybody knows everybody, cousins go to school together, and siblings work together.…

West Virginia So the thing is I am just a twiggy white girl perhaps too oblivious to handle the poverty stricken sectors of West Virginia. And while this may be true, I also know that I have a God big enough to expand across any social, or economic boundary that we may face. I also believe that I am-- or will be-- prepared to undergo such an experience. My goal is to grow to learn more about the culture of the city, to pull myself into the best place with Christ I can be, and to trust in my knowledge and experience I do have.…

I’ve lived my entire life in Indiana, as have my parents. My mom and dad were raised close to Monroe and went to Adams Central, where they met and fell in love. They ended up moving north to Fort Wayne where they had my sister and I. We began our schooling in FWCS, but we moved farther north to the tiny town of Huntertown later, which led to my sister and I switching to NACS for my high schooling and her middle and high schooling. Due to all of the events that have happened here in Indiana throughout my life, and due to most of my immediate family living in the area, I have a desire to continue living and working here.…
